Believe it or not, I've never been to that site.

"...America is starting to align itself to match other countries and whether you think that's good or bad is irrelevant."

What I don't get is why all these folks think and insist that WE need to be more like other countries. If you don't like the constitution, capitalism, and the greatness the U.S.A. represents then there are 100's (thousands?) of other countries in the world that would welcome you.

Instead of trying to "fundamentally transform the United States" to something that suites you, move to one of those countries that fits your communist/socialist ideology and leave ours alone.

... How ironic that America was/is populated by people escaping what some would have us embrace/align...

    ^^^ THIS :patriot:

People used to come to America to flee from their oppressive governments and come to the land of the free and embrace all that that entails.

I don't understand why people like you don't believe that Americans don't have a right to make changes to their country. I don't understand why people like you think America is perfect. It's not perfect, no country is. People came to America during a time where one could feasibly move up in society. You're deluded if you think that option is just "open" to anyone. You those who know people and the lucky few who don't have connections and are in the right place at the right time. America isn't about hard work gets you places anymore, it's about what paper you can stick on your wall, who you know, and how much ass you're willing to suck and toes you'll step on to climb the ladder.

Look at people like Romney, Bill Gates, Zuckerberg, Jobs, or any relatively new "millionaire". Hardly any of them got to where they were based on merits and hardwork...they got to where they were because they knew the right people, were lucky, and already had a boost in life.

I know people who've worked hard their entire lives and have nothing to show for it. Not every poor person is lazy, there are plenty who work 2-3 jobs and put in more than 40 hour weeks. If the "freedom" you speak of is 60+ hour work weeks, then I got news for you buddy -- that ain't freedom.

Because the changes that your side wants to make would put us back into the dark ages. It would get rid of the constitution, limit freedom for the common man and basically have us in a feudal society again.

we already have college kids saying that you can not be a real democrat unless you have a college degree as the masses are too stupid to run their own lives. And that the poor, the old and the disabled are human pollution.

Riiight. Let's see, name a country that doesn't have socialized medicine. I can think of a few 3rd world nations. How about heavily subsidized education, by golly 3rd world nations again. Gay marriage? Abortion? Regulations on corporations? Limits on the number of hours worked or the minimum amount of pay?

What the hell kind of "modern" country are you envisioning? I've heard no liberal say "get rid of the Constitution". I do keep hearing how there's no class warfare, from the Republicans, even though the upper class pay has risen faster than at any other point in American history over the last 50 years. Meanwhile the middle class is dying and it's still deemed, "bad", by Republicans if anyone questions this.

No, sir, if you want to be a peasant to the few at the top you can go ahead and bow your knees in the dirt and mud. I choose to not allow myself to be a victim of the Republican's attempt to make us all slaves. You can't NAME a country that operates like you want America to operate and why is that? Because if there were any they didn't survive.

Let's take some lessons from a few countries that are quite a bit older than we are...I mean that's what I keep hearing on this forum. That the older someone is how they're magically more intelligent.

The problem is that those who want to "share the wealth more equally" think most people will have more than they do now.
In fact, when the reward for accomplishment is reduced, accomplishment is reduced.
Thus, there is less wealth to share and everyone is poorer.

Are you likely to tell your boss that even if you have more experience and work harder and produce more than your coworkers, you shouldn't be paid more?

Well, that's what sharing the wealth is.

I would be ok with just returning power to the States. If California or New York want a socialist utopia, then the socialists in this country can move there and still be in their country of birth. If Indiana wants to be a conservative, so be it. Maybe we could even carve out a libertarian state.

Only one catch, a totalitarian state can not stand with the existence of a free state. That is why they seek the end of our freedom.

So you're advocating going back to the good ole days of socialism? :lmfao:

America has been called the land of opportunity because people could make their own success, according to their own abilities. That's a *capitalist* principle. It's ironic that you whine how America has changed into something worse, when it has only become more progressive, the very thing you want.

Elsewhere, you say America is getting more progressive, moving more towards the left, yet the more leftward we go, the more you don't like the result? Well, I do agree with you that, especially over the past 50 years, America IS moving further left. And we are dumber for it. I'm sure you've seen that thread.

Riiight. Let's see, name a country that doesn't have socialized medicine. I can think of a few 3rd world nations. How about heavily subsidized education, by golly 3rd world nations again. Name a country that has socialized medicine that isn't over its head in debt or doesn't tax its citizens way beyond what we do, or both.

Dude, someone has to pay for it. Justify it to me right now. What gives you the right to make me pay for your healthcare?

I would not say that there is no class warfare. I would also say there is class envy, and you got it bad, dude.

There will always be classes. Star Trek is fiction. No system can remove "class" because people aren't equal. Even taking collectivism to it's logical conclusion, communism, there are still classes. Because people aren't equal.

Most of Europe is dying with birth rates so low that they will cease to exist with a few decades. The PIGS (Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece) are down to 1.3 children per woman. Same for Japan. AT that point you have 10 years and your culture is gone. Someone else will move in and replace you. Much of European socialism is not working. Look at Greece.

As for the middle class, it is not dying but rather it split back in the 1970s into two social classes based on how educated you are. The working (or labor) class is decreasing. But the professional class (college educated) is very strong and doing well. So that is just another left-wing myth.

And the rich now own the democrats. Most of the old money billionaires now fund everything for them (the Ford family totally funds La Raza at $25 million a year). It is the left who wants us to grovel at the feet of the oligarchy. It is a LIE that the republicans want that. I am a republican and all I want is free, especially freedom from the idiots on the left who think that I am stupid and need to be managed.

As for destroying the constitution, even here about Constitution 2020 project? That is a complete rewrite of the constitution by 2020. Soros paid the Yale law school to do the rewrite. 1st amendment rights would be restricted as would 4th amendment. 2nd amendment would be gone. Section 8 would be rewritten such that the government could control your behavior as they would be smarter than you are. That means forced sterilization of poor women (goal of Planned Parent whose founding documents refer to the poor as "weeds"). And other measures to restructure how we believe (make it a crime to teach your kids religion for example) and how we behave (send people off to re-education camps if they are overweight or smoke). Just look at the anti smoking nazis or the food nazis already out there.

you have been brainwashed (impolite way of saying that you were indoctrinated by the education system, ie Pink Floyd's another brick in the wall) .

Streak,Streak....I also know many of the working poor. They DO work hard. What they do NOT do is control their spending. Do not spend your life envying those who have more than you, believing that you have a "right" to a slice of their wealth.Work hard, work smart,save..and then make your money work for you also. Socialism is not the answer. Our universities are full of this nonsense, being taught by very educated, but inexperienced elitists who are disguised as wise and knowledgeable professors. Get all of that out of your head.

Well, at least the college educated people who majored in fields that employers actually want, are doing well. Those who majored in degrees like Anthropology and Liberal Arts seem to mostly hang out in tents in public squares, smokin' dope, ****ting on cars, raping people, vandalizing business fronts, all the while complaining that it's the SUCCESSFUL people's fault that their worthless degrees have kept them unemployed. Yeah, they're not doing so well.

Well, the Senate "compromise" (meaning the left gets all it wants and Mitch McConnell gets to stand in the back of the press conference) isn't going anywhere in the House. The House has a counter-proposal that the left has rejected without seeing. So, I know this probably sounds like tin foil hat time, but is it within the realm of possibility that the President declares some sort of National Emergency over the default and unilaterally proclaims the debt ceiling raised and the government continuing resolution in effect? Is this within his emergency powers? You know the media would be onboard.
