Well, the Senate "compromise" (meaning the left gets all it wants and Mitch McConnell gets to stand in the back of the press conference) isn't going anywhere in the House. The House has a counter-proposal that the left has rejected without seeing. So, I know this probably sounds like tin foil hat time, but is it within the realm of possibility that the President declares some sort of National Emergency over the default and unilaterally proclaims the debt ceiling raised and the government continuing resolution in effect? Is this within his emergency powers? You know the media would be onboard.

I don't think it's all that likely, not even for him. However, he's pushed the boundaries before...

It would be within his power because he would have the military and the Justice Department to back him up.
Whether or not it would be within his authority as President probably doesn't really matter. After all, he already amended the Affordable Care Act by Presidential Decree.

I don't want to believe it's possible but there has to be some kind of endgame or he wouldn't have completely dug in to his "no compromise" position. Scary stuff.

He and the Democrats can refuse to compromise forever.
They are counting on the media to chant, "It's all the Republican Tea Party's fault," and they are.
They don't care how long the shutdown goes on, how much or how long people suffer, or who dies as a result; they believe they are winning.

This is what seems to be happening.
As a Country, it's really embarrassing and makes us look even weaker than we already look. :(

The democrats will not cut the benefits to the majority of voting base. It seems they hope to sway people to their side by blame and inflicting enough pain that people cry uncle. I doubt many welfare recipients go to national parks etc.. They just want their EBT and checks. Meanwhile the military suffers.

"Socialism is great until you run out of other people's money".

If ObamaCare/ACA is so wonderful, why have so many exemptions been granted? Recall part of the sales pitch. EVERYBODY had to pay for insurance so ObamaCare would function properly. Best estimates are that 30 Million people will still not have insurance. Another part of the original sales pitch was ObamaCare would provide insurance for the then claimed to be 42 Million uninsured. Great outcome, spend over a Trillion dollars to get 12 Million more people insurance. What a bargain!

ObamaCare is the law of the land so discussion, debate, or disagreement must stop. Why doesn't that apply to the 2nd Amendment???
