If you work for a vacuum cleaner company and someone tells you your product sucks, is that an insult or a compliment?
I'll answer that this way. I have an Aerus/Electrolux vacuum that sucks with about 1/3 duty cycle. So you turn it on, it sucks for maybe 10 seconds. then cuts off for maybe 20 seconds, and then on for 10, off for 20 and so on.

I suspect there's a bad thermister on one of the control boards that's supposed to shut it off when the motor gets too hot. It's not even giving it time to get too hot though. That's my theory. But anyway I ain't gonna waste my time troubleshooting it. This vacuum doesn't suck enough when it does run to make fixing it worthwhile. Does that answer your question?

Some electric motors get very hot each time they get started from the increeced starting amperage. Like a well pump motor, they need to run to cool off.
Also check and make sure the motor can breathe correctly.

It’s a known issue with this model. We’ve had this vacuum for years. Replacing the thermistor fixes it for a year or two and then it breaks again. Tired of dealing with it. We’ve moved on.
