Listening to POTUS XM this afternoon, they spoke of an article that pretty much says Rand's bid is dead. He's running below Ben Carson in the polls. They basically said, the problem is, there aren't enough Democrats in the Republican party to vote for him. I think they're conflating some things, but they have a point. Not enough freedom loving people in the Republican party. Too many hawks and too many social conservatives. I think Rand would do better in the general election than just about any other republican. But it's doubtful he can win the primary.

My hope would be this . . . I'm a social conservative. But I'd vote for Rand in a heartbeat if I had the choice because I feel like he'd go in the right direction on fiscal and foreign policy. Those trump all, or should, IMO. Social concerns don't matter if you're in the midst of economic collapse or a world war; they are problems you have when you're fat and happy.

That being very true, there is a very vocal minority that makes it sounds like the universe surrounds abortion or gay marriage.

Yes, very vocal, and very much a minority. I laugh myself about 3/4 silly every time I here a media shill proclaim that "most Americans support same sex marriage." Kinda funny since in most states where it has appeared on a ballot, same sex measures fail. But then again with the leftist media, 2+2=654.

All those ballets are for naught since the courts have ruled against them pretty regularly.

Also public shaming has been very affective. I think most people now probably do support it, or at least say they do.

I don't think they do. I doubt if there is even 10% actual support for it. The media is selling another lie.

A rather amusing ad for Paul's upcoming fight against the Patriot Act from the Liberty PAC.

I support the government getting out of marriage. Let who ever do what ever as long as they don't force anything upon me or harm me in any way. If you are gay and get married you can call it marriage. If you are straight and get married you can call it marriage. Only thing you can NOT do is force one or the other to accept your definition of marriage. The initiation of force is wrong regardless who started it and why. I have no right to force my definition on you and you can not force it on me. When it comes to privileges for spouses I say let each person pick who ever they want regardless of race or sex or sexual orientation. Marriage license came to normalcy in this country because of racist and the modern bigot government wants to keep it going. Get the government out of marriage and let the people do what ever they want.

Yes, people should be able to do as they wish so long as they are harming no others. That is a simple concept. Every adult should also be allowed to designate who they wish to be their legal next of kin. This whole thing is really about money anyway, and that becomes apparent if you dig deep enough. Then again if you pay attention the LGBTMNOPQRXYZ community can care less about anything resembling freedom.

I know that you're pretending to be outraged or trolling, but why? What is wrong with Rand's actions in regards to government spying?
    I'm not outraged at all
I expect a politician to act like a politician. Others are expecting a libertarian messiah.
"Rand" is acting just like every other politician, taking a meaningless and pointless stance in front if the cameras that is popular with his base and fundraising off of it.

No "stand for liberty and freedom" just another politician fundraising

Don't get me wrong, if he's the primary winner I'll vote for him gladly. But no idol worship or altars to the "Rand"

I wouldn't say it's a meaningless and pointless stance. I suspect he believes the points he's fundraising off of.

    Look,
when the left "feels compelled to rise in opposition to this bill" and proceeds to spout a bunch of sound bites. We call it disingenuous and fundraising.
When Wendy Davis wears here little pink sneakers and filibusters for the right to butcher unborn infants. We call it grandstanding and running for higher office.

And on our side, when Cruz filibustered Obabmacare legislation we said the same things.

But when a "Paul" does it (either one) he is fighting for freedom and liberty. And our own side points fingers and yells "why do you hate freedom"
The "Paul" kook-aid looks a lot like the "Obama" kook-aid.

As for the NSA "spying program" I hate to break it to some here, but it ain't new and it ain't gonna change. I remember very well the "Echelon Project" antenna array outside on Nuremburg. And the S-2 he explained it like this.
The constitution won't let us collect phone and other communications on US citizens, so the Europeans do and we scrutinize theirs. Then we share information. And words designated as Red Flags used in phone, satellite, or shortwave get recorded and sent up the chain for determination as threat or false alert. This picks up signals from satellites but the Transatlantic cable has been tapped.
And we have gotten good Intel from them.
    And that was in '86
    Its not secret anymore
    http://congressionalresearch.com/RS20444/document.php

if Paul is somehow successful in his efforts it will revert to what it was before. (Whatever followed Echelon)
Don't pat me on the head and tell me how my freedom has been protected. And subsequently ask for donations.
