    I think they are geeks, not nerds.

    this is an important distinction. Nerds are necessarily socially awkward. However, geeks are people who are obsessively interested in something and have an atypical depth of knowledge in the area of interest. They may or may not be socially awkward. Sometimes they are cool. I’m not saying T.Lex is cool. For all I know, he may be a nerd.

    Wonks are a geek subcategory. They’re usually hyper focused on some political policy matter. I suspect that along with being a geek, T.Lex is also a wonk. And I’m almost certain he would take that as a complement either way.

    I have even described myself as a policy wonk, so I see that more as an observation rather than a compliment. ;)

    I thought wonk was a subset of wank, both are prone to unhealthy obsessions
