I was thinking the same thing. If you look at the one yearbook photo, taken at some point during Trumps presidency, the kid is wearing a patriotic T-shirt with a graphic of Mount Rushmore over the American flag. The kind of shirt that kids wore to counter the (at that time) new and growing anti-American sentiment. That, along with the anecdotal information about the kid stating conservative beliefs in school. It would be a safe bet that the kid had a role model that he was emulating, and knowing that his dad purchased his AR during the Obama years, it makes that an obvious possible choice.

He certainly wouldn't be the first kid to drastically change his political beliefs in his later teens. He also wouldn't be the first kid, who was unpopular, maybe picked on, that went a little hard in the direction that the cool kids appear to be. Put a girl in the mix and anything can happen.

Something I noticed. Did you see how well Trump was able to walk up the stairs onto the stage and gave a fist pump to the cheering crowd when he got to the top without stumbling even after he had the top of his ear shot off a few days prior in an assassination attempt. Top that Joey boy.
