This actually encourages me. Now I know that you don't have to be rich and powerful to win the Nobel. Hell, appearently you don't have to DO ANYTHING!

So this encourages me to know that even I have a chance of winning this thing. MMM MMM MMM!

Here's a ticker note from CNN earlier today:

DNC says Republican critics aligning with terrorists

Chairman of the Nobel Peace Prize committee Thorbjorn Jagland holds a picture of President Obama.

(CNN) — A Democratic National Committee spokesman said Friday the GOP has "thrown in its lot with the terrorists" in criticizing the president's Nobel Peace Prize award.

“The Republican Party has thrown in its lot with the terrorists – the Taliban and Hamas this morning – in criticizing the President for receiving the Nobel Peace prize," DNC Communications Director Brad Woodhouse said in a statement.

"Republicans cheered when America failed to land the Olympics and now they are criticizing the President of the United States for receiving the Nobel Peace prize – an award he did not seek but that is nonetheless an honor in which every American can take great pride – unless of course you are the Republican Party," the statement also said. "The 2009 version of the Republican Party has no boundaries, has no shame and has proved that they will put politics above patriotism at every turn. It's no wonder only 20 percent of Americans admit to being Republicans anymore – it's an embarrassing label to claim.”

    Nice...

BTW, I know a few of you have already thrown your names in the hat for the next rounds of Nobel Popularity Prizes, but I want in too. I once thought that it would be nice to use any stimulus money to increase production at ammo and firearms plants. Doesn't that count???

We now need a little Nobel Popularity Prize smiley to hand out to people who post things that contribute absolutely nothing to the conversation.

If we need someone who has actually accomplished something...let's all nominate Fenway for getting INGO started. :ingo:

I thought this was a joke thread until mid day today. I checked the mainstream media outlets and reluctantly realized that it was true. I am speechless. I makes no sense...unless you try to think like a liberal and value form over substance, promises over accomplishment. :n00b:

Frankly, the DNC can go to hell.

    This game is fixed folks:

    1. Set up a "prestigious" prize that only goes to the Left and is used to slap conservatives on a yearly basis.

    2. Announce the winner to be a man who has done nothing to actually earn the prize, but can trash America with the best of them, and then include the obligatory back handed slap at Bush.

    3. When conservatives don't react with hosannahs and "all hail Obama", label them traitors, terrorists and America haters.

What to do about it? Danged if I know. Beating them in elections would be best. For now we just have to settle for outstanding FOX News ratings and hope we don't drown in Obama's debt or get blown up by Islamic terrorists before we unelect this idiot we have for a president.

Here is a reply to the nomination from Obama:

This morning, Michelle and I awoke to some surprising and humbling news. At 6 a.m., we received word that I'd been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009.
To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize -- men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.
But I also know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it's also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes.
That is why I've said that I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations and all peoples to confront the common challenges of the 21st century. These challenges won't all be met during my presidency, or even my lifetime. But I know these challenges can be met so long as it's recognized that they will not be met by one person or one nation alone.
This award -- and the call to action that comes with it -- does not belong simply to me or my administration; it belongs to all people around the world who have fought for justice and for peace. And most of all, it belongs to you, the men and women of America, who have dared to hope and have worked so hard to make our world a little better.
So today we humbly recommit to the important work that we've begun together. I'm grateful that you've stood with me thus far, and I'm honored to continue our vital work in the years to come.
    Thank you,
    President Barack Obama

The DNC chairman laid the cards on the table for us all.

Not for the first time, the President's people has called those who disagree with him terrorists, has labeled his political opponents as enemies to wage war on. They have declared that being a political opponent of President Obama is an act worthy of death.

The Nobel Peace Prize winner is deliberately leading this nation into civil war.

Joe, I hate to do this, but the same thing was said about Bush. Remember the "patriot act" they really did call us terrorists. This is nothing new, we all need to open our eyes and see...it doesn't matter which side of the aisle you are on.

Politicans make it us and them, and pit American vs. American. That's the only label any of us should subscribe to. American.

It is expected that Barry will also clinch the World Series by Monday.

It seems to me BHO was given this award for the same reason he was elected: hatred of Bush. It's the only way someone who's done nothing can achieve such status. (Well, except for Paris Hilton, of course.)
