It's because China no longer needs it.
For decades China was buying recycling from all over the world. They have mountains and mountains of "recycled material" that they have been storing.
They have since stopped buying it at thr levels they were so the recycling market crashed.
We have not had recycling out where I live for at least a decade.
It is pretty much a farce.
We all want a clean environment but our recycling methods simply don't work. Perhaps if they figure out a better alternative it will, but until then, the reality is, we are just dumping plastics into the ocean.

Us south of US30 folks have our own generators so we are not dependent upon others, we are self reliant in many ways.That is normally a south of us30 problem where it's uncivilized and raccons live. Besides your outhouse don't need a light.
