I know very well what purple means, but thanks. It just seems like every time you read a thread involving gun stores and somebody brings up Blythes, it's in a negative way. Not just in this thread, I guess I'd just had enough of it at that point. I apologize if I offended anybody, just sticking up for a top notch gun shop!
It's a comin' to North Porter County Conservation Club!

not to bring up old subject, but the Blythes in Griffith qouted me over $700 for my P99, didnt have it in stock... Same day I went to Valpo store, walked out paying $640 with tax. . . I know where I do my shopping, dont know about you. . .

I have mixed feelings on Blythes and the other various NWI smaller vendors (Deb's Gun Range, Westforth Sporting Goods, etc...)
I know that they can't compete $ for $ against the Cabela's and Wal-Marts due to the higher volume of purchases that the big box gives. My first 3 purchases were at the local shops and looking back at it I did "overpay" on price but what I got for that overpay was excellent service.
The first handgun I got was a Springfield 1911 (GI basic) from Deb's at a cost of $650 or maybe it was $750 (can't recall as it was about 2 years ago). Yes looking back at it I got had (price wise) but again at the time I was a n00b, had never carried before, had taken the NRA basic handgun course 1 year prior to that @ deb's and had no other experience with handguns.
I recall that when I picked up the gun one of the employees took time to explain to me how it works, the IN gun laws on carry, no-no places, and even helped me take the gun apart to show me how to clean it and provided me tips on what/how to clean/lube it. He spend about 1.5 hours with me while the other employee handled the workload.
He then gave me a box of ammo (on the house) and told me to go shoot it to make sure it all worked (again on the house range time).
I don't know if this is the norm for them, or if becuase I took the handgun course there, or if I had that n00b face/look. In any case, that intro time I think looking back at it was well worth the extra I paid for the gun. I needed that hand holding at the beginning. When I left that day I felt more confident in the handgun (recall up until my 30th Bday I have NEVER touched a firearm before).
The guy told me if I ever ran into any issues to come back and see him.
When I bought the WASR-10 from Bylthes (Valpo) I had a similar experince in terms of they telling me should I need any help to come back and see them. They were friendly, not pushy, and answered all my questions at the time.
Now the Bylthes in Griffith hum... I tend to feel like they are either pushy or just don't pay attention to you.
I guess my point is you can't or probably won't get that level of customer service from the big box store. When I bought the 10/22 a few days ago at the Wal-Mart (Valpo) it took f-o-r-e-v-e-r. The ast. mngr had to do the sell and I don't think he knew much about the rifle other than it is a rifle.
The funny part was Clif45 and I were there and once the sale was done the manager walked me to the door. He had the rifle in the box and gave it to me as I exited the store. Yet Clif45 was OC and I was CC. WTH am I going to do with a rifle, in a box, with no ammo when CLif and I was both carrying? **SIGH**
I felt like a criminal as I was being escorted out the door with the rifle. Like they did not trust me enough to have the 10/22 inside the store.
Single guys have money for guns and eating out. They should get married and suffer like we do.

I hate doing business with either of the blythes, i just always feel I am getting ripped off.
On another note I saw cliff 45 at old chicago last night.
Careful "older gentelman" young guys *cough* Clif45 *cough* are cRaZy since they OC them evil black guns and may just pop u with 1.
