Goes right along with my current book I'm reading... "The Rise of the Warrior Cop" (Balko) which traces the rise of the Paramilitary police forces, and the indirect militarization of what use to be the local law enforcement... Amazing changes over the past 40-60 years... Its no wonder that the Bill of Rights, the Constitution itself are threatened, and the "we versus they" mentality of many Law Enforcement officials has blossomed... Very good book, that should be on the shelf of every police chief and SWAT commander in the country...

Guess I didn't after all. It was who I thought it was.

Pulling out of gas station I had no room, someone very generous let me out. In turn I turned out the lights on em

I was talking to a former marine who is now Chicago PD the other weekend. It was interesting. He really liked his job. He liked that the people he ran into on a daily basis weren’t trying to kill him, and he wasn’t trying to kill them. He felt he was surrounded by good people when he went to work each day.

I'd like to borrow that when you're finished. I can't do "Fifty Shades of Grey" again.

I just finished up the 5th book of "A Song of Ice and Fire" which is the basis for the HBO series "Game of Thrones." It's a long read but incredibly well done. Highly recommend it, especially if you get the audio books and listen while commuting.

If I ever have to commute again, I may look into the audio books. I cancelled my Sirius, and the radio in my Jeep is a POS. Only station I can get in is XRock, which isn't bad, but I ****ing hate Bob and Tom in the morning.

I had the audio books for well over a year before I finally started listening to them on a drive to Fort Wayne. Hooked instantly. It really makes time fly.
