I'm done screaming ... for now.

@DK ... thanks for the suggestion but that didn't work either. The USB ports are only "seeing" my external drives, flash drives, and IPod. Cameras and readers are not coming up.

WD, I always start with rebooting the computer, just to make sure nothing is messed up when something that use to work doesn't work...

and I would think the camera has to be on for it to transfer but I'm no engineer...

Forgot to mention that I tried rebooting ... no success. When it froze up I shut it down for a few minutes ... no success.

The directions call for the camera to be off when you plug it into the computer. In the past, it always powered up as soon as it was plugged into the USB port.

If I had a MAC, none of this would be happening, unemployment would be at .03%, Jedi would be wearing black and carrying a GLOCK, and I would be shooting El Presidente's in under 4 seconds.

I would plug it in, turn on your camera, and if nothing starts automatically, run the imaging software directly looking for an option to import photos from camera.

Tried that ... the computer is not even "seeing" the camera.

At this point, I'm just going to draw pictures.

Oh yeah ... I'm coming down with something too. Looks like the Smallbore Match is out. When it rains ... it pours.

Seems to me that there must be some sort of problem with the usb cable for your camera or with the camera itself then..

Dan if Matt can't fix you up on the full auto transfer pm me and I'll see if I can hook you up with another local dealer to do it...

My brain is fried but I'm starting to suspect this is the answer ... bad cable or camera.

How do I check my USB ports? I know they are working (confirmed by hooking up the external drives and IPod) but I would like to know for future reference how to check if the computer is "seeing" them.

Side note ... :yesway: for Matt @ Front Towards Enemy ... great guy to deal with.

That's the quickest way I know how - plugging in a flashdrive or something similar and waiting for it to show up. Sounds like a bad cable or a driver problem. Have you tried re-installing the disk that came with your camera?

Not to derail, but I just spent the evening helping my brother in law pimp out his AR15. I gotta stop thinking about pistols and start thinking about rifles.

My camera has to be on for the computer to see it. Is your computer plugged in? It's possible but, unlikely for USB ports to turn off in a power save mode.

Card readers are a good back up.

Need some ideas for some good accessories? or does he already have some? I always suggest to keep it pretty basic. Sight, back up sight if you feel the need, flashlight, preferably with a pistol grip in the front. All you really need on it.

WD looks like it might be time for you to buy a MAC. They are the GLOCK of computers.

Of course, if it ever does break, which is doubtful, Jedi won't be able to fix it. Then again it appears that Jedi didn't actually fix what you have now!

He put on a quad rail, MBUS flip ups, a Harris bipod and an AFG to start. I'm thinking along the same lines, only adding some kind of optic, and a grip pod to condense the bipod and fore grip. The sky is the limit with accessories, gonna try to keep my feet on the ground with my first build.

I have not heard many good things about the grip pods. Depends on what you are going to be using it for, as to say go bipod or foregrip. Sounds like he did pretty good on his set up. I have seen too many Tacicool ones that have junk weighing down the "light" rifle, that is just useless to the purpose of it. Just like having a 20 power scope on a shorty AR. Chances are, they arent shooting it out that far, or you would want the longer barrel and solid stock. But, then you arent using it for close ups either then. So many try to get the magic rifle that will do everything.
I will have my AR and my SCAR out for the meet and shoot, if you want to see how I have them set up.
