    It's good.
    You have no choice.

We have nothing left to live for other than to unleash the same tired old stories about the hardships of our youth, walking miles uphill to and from the school, through the snow, in all 4 seasons and buying Chesterfield unfiltered cigarettes at the local market for our moms, who typically were sipping martinis by noon and would write a permission note to the store owner and send us with the exact change to buy her smokes.

    Don't forget our cars...

Manual transmission, no power steering, power brakes or power windows, no seat belts, no air conditioning and only AM radio.

True story. I learned to drive on weekends in the Taft Jr High parking lot when I was about 12, sitting on phone books in our '65 Chevy BelAir.

My Mom didn't get her driver's license until I was about 9 or 10. Dad bought a 1954 Olds 88 for her but it didn't have power steering or power brakes. We went to a junk yard and got all the parts to convert it. I ended up taking my driving test in that car.

1954oldsrocket88021807.jpgStill one of my favorite cars. Second only to the '53 Kaiser we owned.

My Dad drove Kaiser's for years, then switched to Oldsmobiles when Kaiser went out of business. Never bought a new car his entire life.

I put my Hello Kitty t-shirt in the garage sale this year. Figured it was time. One of those "you're almost 60, it's time to let it go" things. Also most of my camo, except my beloved jacket. And any shorts that hit me above the knee.

The one that made me saddest was the Happy Bunny "Cute but Psycho" t-shirt. OK for clubbing, but notsomuch for the early bird special at Round the Clock.

we had power steering, it was called made by "Armstrong"

My Dad owned one of these, a 1960 Dodge Dart. It was 10+ years old and didn't look nearly this good. It had one seat belt for the driver. Family members and other passengers were considered to be expendable.
