and since we are being all geeky i'm in hour 15 of an NAS upgrade/move and i'm going to punch all of my users in the face if I catch them creating folder and file names with full sentences ever again.
"cannot copy file/folder" due to path/file name length... wtf... seriously, dozens of folders deep, folder names like: project name address/files with date received and what/section of job and notes/oh and I moved this to another folder on this date/actual files...
so it is really in another folder and this is totally useless hoarding of duplicate data because you are a fukwit.

Just wait till you get to the users with multiple Gigs of 'critical documents' with obvious pornographic names. That's a fun conversation to have with HR...

No pity here; been there and done all of that. At least it sounds like you're copying from one piece of hardware to another. It much more interesting when you're upgrading laptops/desktops and have to do many-to-many replication after-hours.

I've been doing this since imaging software was booted off a 3.5 floppy pc to pc with a parallel cable before you could load the nic drivers from the boot disc and do it on the lan... preach It tho! lol. god, the hours I spent getting paid doing nothing to watch pc's clone to newer hardware...

Last night at around 830pm there were 4 squad cars with their lights on, an ambulance and a big crowd of people in the McDonalds parking lot just north of the square in Crown Point. Does anyone know what the ruckus was about?

No we run just the cable, no ends. Then we terminate with jacks in closet n desk. Patch cable then used from desk to pc or closet to switches or servers.

it's not the wall jacks that are the pita - it's the rj ends. as for that thing you still have to untwist the wire and place it, so I don't see it being some big time saver over just punching the block. by the time you set it up couldn't you have just punched the damn wires?

I can do 1 jack per min when im left the f... Alone and have some music. The other way is harder for me as i learned with this tool first.

Granted i seldom do the work as i leave it to the magic faries. That is what we pay then for.

The crimp head is different but as far as putting them together they function the same. The little insert you put the wires through before putting it in the head of the RJ-45 is a little different, but those are the only differences I've seen.

I think our problem 2 nights ago was the crimper.
Cause the wires tested okay for their order, but we lost connections when we wiggled the cable.

I attended Catholic grade school in the middle to late 60's. Man the smacking around, swats, kneeling on rulers. One time I had a male teacher, Mr Hough grab me by the front of the shirt and slam me into a locker. Of course I did not deserve any of it.

I was in public school, but that still sounds like first to third grade to me.

    Memories...memories,

I was stood in a corner in the back of the room... the nun got the rest of the class started on seat work, then she came back and jammed my face into the corner three times... concrete block wall... third grade... bloody nose.

But i totally deserved it, I hadn't done my homework.

I spent a LOT of time in the corner.
Seems, I had a perpensity to be verbose while expressing myself.

    Whine, whine, whine... ;)
But i do understand your point and i hate having to do the terminations or even running the cable. Its not that its hard. Its the pita of having to open up the metal trenches in the bldg, undo the stupid carpet tile, put it all back down, then crawl around under people desk which at 1000% disgusting with all sort of junk!

All for 1 or 2 lines. Ggrrr.

That I can do. It's grunt work. What I've done my entire life.
Try it in a steel mill.
