I don't know... the 450 is setup to use 45 acp bullets where the 458 socom is better designed to use the heavier 45/70 type of bullets but for deer it wouldn't really matter I guess...

The more I read on the 450 Bushmaster round for the deer in this state the more I like it.

Hi, sadclownwp. check this out. You may like some ideas from this to upgrade your Ruger.
I believe in this project, it most likely to make it lighter and switch a batter barrel.

But the 450 Bushmaster is almost has 2X the distance for what I would consider a humane shot on a deer. Plus 458 Socoms don't run reliable. I know about 50% of the 458 socom uppers we sold at Blythes we had to send back to Rock River. They would work their magic on them. And when they came back they could only cycle the most expensive Wilson Combat ammo reliably.

Does anyone knows a tailor that could help to do some modification of my plate carrier? I already have all the material which need to do the work, just need a tailor to do some stitch work. Already contact some tailors near my home, but no one could do it. any suggestion? better in NWI area.
Maybe John Cicco's in Merrillville/Hobart. If not, look for a leather or tack store that would have stronger machines. There's also Spyceware in Crown Point.

I just think if your going to shoot big heavy bullets, I would want to run the full gamut of available 45/70 lead rather than being stuck with the lighter rounds the 450 run. The 458 SOCOM as a reloaders round shouldn't be all that hard to make run, I know AR's are finicky when you get away from the standard 5.56 but not impossible.

Although I am looking at a Marlin GBL in 45/70 to approach that sledge hammer effect and the old time and true 45/70 caliber rather than go the same expense in just a upper....

Less than 70# would be great.

    Even lighter would be nice.

Rubber augers would be ideal. Single stage. RELIABLE/QUALITY engine.

It would not be used for big stuff, just path/patio/small area clearing.
i had a Toro for 10 years. It was great. It was. 6.5 hp Snocommander. Mine was 2 cycle I think the new ones are 4 cycle. I had a three car wide drive and it was good up to about 9 inches. I changed the rubber auger after 8 years. Easy to do yourself.

I've got a 458 SOCOM and it has always run with every bullet I've throw at it from 100 grain ALUMINUM rounds that blast a 10' fireball out the muzzle to heavy thumpers. Never had an issue.

Can't get the wide range of bullet choices with the 450 Bushy. Can't get heavier bullet construction either. Perhaps not much of a consideration with deer, but a bigger issue with other game.

Seems like Toro might be the answer.
