Finally. Went into problem status about 2 weeks ago due to sloppy finger printing and the CLEO not filling out the departments name and address. Should have the lower back from SP3Worker by weeks end!

Where do you get the info, do you call them? I have not received anything back since I mailed in the forms

You can call them to check what status your forms are currently in.

With mine, when she returned the forms, there was also a sheet in the packet explaining what the problem was.

Wow. Almost 6 months to the day.

I was surfing around the archives of some various gun sites from back in '08 and saw some posts of guys complaining of a 60 day wait time. Oh if we only knew...

I was 60 days on my first stamp. In the scheme of things, can't believe how long I've been waiting on 2 & 3!

I did my first SBR back in late 07'. I forgot to fill out one of the fingerprint cards, they sent it back with a note and after I completed it and sent it back it still only took 71 days.

I think my 1st stamp was ~2005 and it took 6 months! So did these latest two. I'm wanting another can but don't want it to show up in the middle of winter when I don't go shooting much.

Just called about my SBR form 1. I mailed it on the 5th or 6th of February. They show it as pending, having gone into the database on 2/21/12. They're quoting me 8/21/12 for approval.

Is it me, or is that just pathetic? Does ATF publish any sort of volume numbers anywhere? Has everybody on the planet put in a few forms for approval? I'd love to know what takes them so long.

My best guess is that it's just fewer examiners (compounded by a hiring freeze) plus more people learning about the process. Also more items are legal in more states, e.g. suppressors in Michigan. Lastly, there is the election panic buying that is ramping up presently for obvious reasons.

I remember "way back" in 2007, I had a transfer take 21 days door to door. Now it's almost 7 months.
How times change. I think it's only going to get worse.

This thread depresses me even more now that I just sent in a couple Form1s

And from the people that sent in both a form 1 and a form 4 it appears the Form 1 is taking longer.

I hear ya. But I look at it optimistically. Ive already paid for the cans and the stamps, so that part is done and over with. In 6 months I will have recouped that money plus some and the sting of the initial purchase will have worn off.

When I go to pick them up it will almost be like an early birthday present from my Class 3 friend LOL!
