Been having fun with this thing and she's getting closer to being done. Had the original barrel cut down to 12.5", threaded for chokes and had rifle sights installed. I bought an improved cylinder tube for it last night and shot it today and I'm extremely pleased with how it shoots the Federal LE133 00 buck. 25 yards yields around a 12" pattern and at 15 yards it's around 6".

I'm not thrilled with the light setup but it works, I'm trying to avoid buying a Surefire forend for it because I just don't want to spend the money but I'm not very good at settling for things I'm not thrilled with. I'm also thinking about shipping it off to Birdsong to have the Black T or Green T finish applied since the rifle sights are blued and don't match the parkerizing on the rest of the gun.

I'm hoping my controversial Aridus Industries QD-C will show up before the end of the month as well.

That's a tough looking boomstick, very handy! I dig the barrel length, and have been hearing about the Aridus goodies on Ballistic Radio for a short bit now. Can't wait to see this as it progresses. Yes!

Controversial? Was that the shell holder that cost more than $7.75?

While that light set up may not be the best, it is nice to be able to remove it and slide the gun into tight spaces. It's a compromise, just leave it on for a year and you will get use to it.

With choke tubes, I have visions of spending the day in my kayak fishing and blasting ducks and geese with an SBS as I float my way home. It's a bucket list thing.

Oh, and best use of correctomundo in a thread this year!

I'm in Indy and have a gently used Surefire forend you could test drive if you're interested. I've just decided I don't like it. If you liked it we could discuss a sale.

What was the prompting to reduce the barrel by another 1.5"? Did you find a real need or was it just to go as short as you could without moving the barrel lug?

I am just curious, I prefer the looks of a 14" barrel, but have never run one shorter than 18".

Looks great dude. I was drooling over your Vang Comp barrel yesterday that you have listed.

I'm in the same boat in regards to a light on a pump action shotgun. I've tried just about everything, and nothing comes close to the Surefire forearm.

LOVE IT! I am working on the exact same set up for my SBS. Just waiting on the tax stamp to get the barrel cut down. Who did your barrel cut/threading/rifle sight install?

After messing with a coworker's AR15 with a Surefire Mini Scout mounted in nice and tight I decided to give that setup a try. I like it better than the X300 I had on there, it sits closer and reduces the likelihood of banging it into obstacles. Aridus Industries posted an update on the testing of their system, hoping to get mine in before too much longer. That and a sling and she'll be complete.

Same reason you'd choke a longer barrel. I've got an improved cylinder choke in it and it keeps all 8 pellets of LE133 in a 6" circle at 15yds.
