Lol, actually religion does play a factor in this "conflict". Many think that part of our involvement is due to our alliance with Israel and their conflict with Islam has been going on for a long long long time.

Why we are getting involved in a situation between two "brothers" makes no sense to me (those more familiar with origins of Judaism and Islam will understand this).

It is the root of the involvement, not a factor.

Several comments in this thread remind me of a quote. I don't know who it is from, and I'll need to paraphrase, because I'm not positive of the exact wording, but here it is.

I have made this argument several times and will continue to make it. WE ARE THE GOOD GUYS. We have a standard to uphold and a certain ways that we conduct ourselves. Its not cutting off peoples heads and giving fair trails that make us this way.

But I do have to agree with a lot of the people views on this are -- Keep your mouth shut unless you've seen the ****.

I'm glad you think this was wrong. As to keeping mouths shut, that's not how it works, nor how it should work. Just as with cops, the citizens get to say. If they don't want cops giving out beatdowns because they're angry or soldiers peeing on bodies, that's what they get. The military does what they're told. Civilians get to say.

Also, in this country, there's no license that allows you to have or not have an opinion.

It is just sad there is more uproar over this than the videos of people having their heads sawed off. If you have not seen those, then watch them and tell me who you think are the real bad guys.

AS I was reading ALL of this, the Fox 59 news, had a spot on this, and according to Pinneta, and clinton, the punishment is going to be SEVERE.
Also, one of the "Marines asked do you have it, and he was answered yes... so they WANTED it taped, and KNEW it was being taped....

Without common cultural ties, the Marquess of Queensbury rules don't apply and I don't recall anyone from the Taliban signing on to the Geneava Conventions, either.

If we're going go to this much effort to shoot and kill people, pissing on them once they've been dispatched really shouldn't be a topic of discussion.

I am with you here. We should not be telling the world right from wrong. Obviously we need to fix our own house first. Don't get me wrong I am proud of our military and what they do for us. However, I am sometimes very ashamed of their actions.
