    Nor do I.

Don't try to make me out to be some kind of ____ .
But some of you are being deliberately obtuse.
Some of us are used to these annoyingly circular and repetitious arguments.
But don't misrepresent what I'm saying.
You do - and consider - likewise.

As one former LEO once said, "We'd all be a whole lot better off, if people would learn to mind their own business -- and their manners."

    This thread got boring.

Well, I DID have to get some work done...

I do find it funny though how no one can explain what "normal" is but I am the fringe nutcase here anyway. Keep in mind, I do not own body armor, nor army fatigues, nor do I plan on dressing up like GI Joe for a stroll to the coffee shop.

I'm just saying what business is it of ours if someone does decide to do it? Perhaps he has a good reason. Gecko 45 comes to mind ;)

Far be it from me to question someone's fashion sense.

If I saw someone as I described, I would have no reservations about calling the cops to check him out, nor would I be concerned about how it impacts his constitutional right to carry.

    Why?

Because a normal person doesn't walk around in fatigues, full body armor, mags strapped, and an AR slung over his shoulder. Anyone doing this is either mentally unstable, up to something, or just plain stupid. All good reasons to check him out.

Any time you stray from societal norms, you'll draw attention to yourself. Dressing like described will bring negative attention to yourself.

If you do it because you're mentally unstable, you should get checked out.
If you do it because you want to provoke a reaction, then you'll get all the reaction you could ever want.
If you do it to see how far you can push your Second Amendment rights, well, good luck with that.

It's like yelling "FIRE!" in a theater.

    Nor do I.

Don't try to make me out to be some kind of extremist looking to ban all guns.

Look, some of you disagree. I'm good with that. But some of you are being deliberately obtuse. Those I can dismiss. But don't misrepresent what I'm saying.

I never, ever call the cops on a "whim".
I think some of us here bristle just a little bit when we see a comment made like the part that I highlighted in bold from one of your previous posts above.

And I get that. But shouldn't the authorities at least be able to evaluate a potential threat without everyone getting their panties in a wad?

Within the scope of the law, of course. they have the same right to question you about what you are doing right at the moment. Afterall, YOU might be a threat to someone somewhere eventually...

"How can we be sure unless we check you out? And how about a quick search of your house, you know, just to check, no biggie. We will be real quick."

    So now it's "the authorities".

    "The authorities ..."

"The authorities". Say it with a haughty British accent for effect. Crept increasingly into the lexicon over the last twenty years.

Unless an actual crime - a real crime - has been committed, it's the pantywaist who called the cops in the first place who got their "panties in a wad".
