It is now up to the Senate to hold off an appointment until January. If they can accomplish that, electing a Republican President will never be more important.

longest Supreme Court vacancy came in President Tyler's term. 1843-1845, the Senate rejected 9 nominations

Aside from being called douchebags and raked over the coals by the media, what's to keep the senate from doing that now?

Self-preservation. Republican politicians obviously don't have the spines they once did.

RIP Scalia. I hope congress can block any nominations until after the election, although the libs could still win the election.

Well Hillary always wanted to be on that court.
What a fine time for Obama to pick her and thus ensure she does not get "lost" in the scandal she has right now or the white house bid.

I guess you don't have to be a lawyer to be on the Supreme Court...imagine Madam Justice Clinton and a Bernie Sanders Whitehouse....

MCCONNELL on Scalia: "this vacancy should not be filled until we have a new President.”

Good, sounds like he's on the right side here

McConnell is a spineless jelly fish with more chins than a Chinese phone book. Do not trust that fat lard bucket any further than you can toss him.

As I understand it that the court will go on as normal till new fella shows up and in cases with a tie vote the lower courts ruling stands. Untill his death it was five Rep. appointments to 4 demons err... Dems.

This is very bad for the 2A and freedom/liberty in general. He was a very well thought man who really pushed to keep the court to what it was supposed to be.

Already some on the other side are cheering his passing.

My guess is that nothing will get through the approval process until AFTER the upcoming elections.
Wrap your tin foil hat around this one:

    • Obama buries the email investigation fast and deep.
    • Obama goes through a few nominees he knows will be rejected.
    • Obama endorses Hillary thus virtually eliminating Bernie's chances.
    • The Republicans screw around throughout the primaries and nominate another sure loser.
    • Hillary wins and nominates Obama to the Supreme Court.

Afterall, Obama is a Constitutional Scholar.

It goes a little further than the 2nd Amendment. And honestly, concerning the 2nd, he wasn't exactly the standard bearer. He agreed with a number or restrictions most of us wouldn't like.
