If it were up to me I'd have them amputate my foot at the ankle, bolt on a stump, and send me over if it'd get rid of the pain and allow me to deploy.
Comments mention an apparent lack of safety mindedness.
It's not the point that you can shoot someone through the computer.
If you are giving "instruction" and people are soaking in your "instruction"
you need to keep yourself squared away.
You are supposed to be teaching safety. Always.

Hopefully he does not throw his loaded guns down in front of students
to prove they won't go off or show them you can point them at your
head and beat them with a hammer and you are perfectly safe.

LOL ...there was a sniper instructor who lost an eye. Wore a patch every day and could still shoot and otherwise do his job, but they wouldn't let him deploy with the rest of his guys. He took it as high as he could go in a very public fashion too, LOL. Called out the administrative decision making TO the Commandant in front of EVERYONE.
