Well I am obviously in the minority here. I think it wrong and unnatural to be gay, engage in any gay acts or even think about gay crap. How another man can look at another man's hairy behind and get turned on is beyond me.:n00b: I actually think it is a pretty pathetic subject myself. No better yet I think it sick and disgusting. I guess it goes to show how low the moral's of this country has got too. :noway::noway:

Gay people who want to get married legally? :dunno:
And the other non-gay people who care for human rights of their fellow citizens.
You missed the point of my answer...

I don't care which gender one wants to Marry, or have intercourse with. Hell I don't care if you want to marry a Goat...

This absolutely ought to be the context of the question.

In that regard, what about presumption of paternity? Do you believe we should abolish that as well? Or should every father be required to take a DNA test to prove that he is the father?

It is off topic and honestly, I haven't considered it, but I will. Still sounds like an issue to be addressed by the adults involved in the arrangements they entered into.

I am actually surprised this is as close as it is on this site. From what I have seen on here its not exactly a gay friendly place lol. I really never understood why people felt they had a right to determine if two consenting adults could or couldnt marry simply because they are different.

I have no issues with gay marraige at all, it does not effect me one way or the other. It in no way devalues my marriage with my wife, it in no way devalues the marraige of anyone else in any way.

But to some they want everyone to be treated equally, well unless they have different beliefs. That is sad imo.

Marriage is yet another area where government has encroached upon grounds beyond its boundaries. It is not a matter for the government to be involved in at all... the government has NO BUSINESS being involved in the relationship between me and my wife.

Yes, the morals of this country have plummeted.

Do you suppose sticking the gun of government in people's backs is the best method of persuasion toward "correction"?

One of the beautiful things about this nation is that it recognizes your right not to participate in the discussion.

    Marriage is a religious covenant.

If that were true, you'd go to the church to get a marriage license. Instead you go to the courthouse. When I got married, there was no mention of god at all in our ceremony. I don't believe in a christian god. But that's a debate for another thread.

So much for only God can judge... Child abuse huh so do you feel the same way about fat parents with fat kids? I

Good point. I hope this becomes a target of the government too.

Agreed, but it is. You get tax breaks, mortgage breaks, reductions in health insurance and auto insurance... Isn't being married great?

People look at the behavior of gay people and sexualize it. It's not about sex, it's about who you fall in love with. Leave the 'hairy backside' comments out of this thread, you're focusing on the wrong aspect of the argument. It's not about where you put your penis, it's about equal rights for human beings.

If the gov't is going to be involved in the "sanctity" (see: brittney spears, kim kardashian, liz taylor, larry king) then they should not disallow gays to marry. Of course, I would rather see them have nothing to do with it, but that is obviously not true. When the legality of something is in question the "religious aspect" of it should not come into play. THere are far too many religions. Also, to those that think it lowers the meaning of their "natural" marriage, GROW UP. It is really a shame that people in this country think the actions of another when it comes to marriage can affect the view of their actions.

    and

Marriage licenses have not always been required... They are yet another intrusion by the government "for the greater good".

If you go back to the my earlier posts you will see my comments re: the tax structure as well.

The government has no business in my relationship between my wife and me.

WAKE UP FOLKS. The government needs to be put back in its cage.

The way it was explained to me by one of my shooting buddies who happens to be gay, the concept of "marriage" as far as the government is concerned bestows about 50 different benefits to the married community. Some examples would be:

    1) Inheritance rights
    2) Ability to visit a loved one in the hospital
    3) Tax deductions
    4) Child support issues
    5) I'm sure someone with a legal/accounting background could name a bunch more

In an effort to be treated the same regarding these rights, they would like the term to apply to everyone. While this wouldn't force churches who disagree to suddenly start having gay weddings, it would allow this portion of our population to be treated the same as a straight couple. As a Libertarian, I don't think the government should be involved in marriage in any way, but as long as we're stuck being involved, I believe that the government should treat individuals fairly.

I've heard many people say the same thing... while thinking that watching two women go at in a porno is awesome.

But then again, I think that Priests that molest little boys are FAR WORSE than anything gay men or women do.
