Big union shop, so the template has already been produced
If there is a bail out, we'll see a very Government Motors Like process where "former" union leadership are placed in charge by Big O, I suspect.

Restructuring of a company has happened successfully WITH a union workforce before. The real problem would be the NLRB stepping in a suing a company if the local union decides they don't wont to work with their new owners.

Keep the government FAR, FAR away from the whole process.

I agree totally. I was just talking Govt Bail Out. Not restructure, as it should be.

Zombieland Tallahassee: There's a box of Twinkies in that grocery store. Not just any box of Twinkies, the last box of Twinkies that anyone will enjoy in the whole universe. Believe it or not, Twinkies have an expiration date. Some day very soon, Life's little Twinkie gauge is gonna go... empty.

They may have an expiration date, BUT, have you ever noticed that even ants won't eat a Twinkie!

    If ants won't eat it,.....?

Union kills Twinkies??? I wonder if these ding dongs salary hurt the company any? See bottom right of article for numbers! Hostess Brands, Inc.: Private Company Information - BusinessWeek

That's part of why a takeover from a group like Bain Capital would be for the better. If they can't perform, those jobs with the nice bennies go away.

And if the company is hurting that bad anyway, like in other major companies, CEO's, boardmembers, etc shouldn't be taking huge bonuses. But keep in mind that a LOT of where these guys get crucified by the media is for the money that they get (part of their bonus) from STOCK OPTIONS.

THAT guy got a 10 million dollar BONUS! KILL HIM!!!!

What people seem to forget is to get that 10 million, he had to sell a bunch of stock to achieve it. Granted, he can now go buy some more stock at a discounted rate, but they are limited on the amount that they can buy again. And THEN, they are nailed with taxes on top of it all.

So keep some of those things in mind before any of you side with Occupy protestors, and start spouting off about the evils of CEO's and corporations.

Who do you blame? The union that bargained with the company. Or the company that agreed to the contract. Everyone blames the union. Guess what! It is no different than average joe running out and buying his brand spankin new LOADED F350 on credit and then a year from now realizing he can't afford it. Who do you blame the dealership or the douche that can seem to balance his checkbook. Companies agree to the obligations and terms of the agreement. If there is any blame to place then put it on everyone involved. Also did you scan past the part of the article where the union is working with the company to resolve the issue. Stop blaming unions for honoring an agreed upon contract. FYI when non-union companies run out of pension money they just stop paying it and leave their retirees to fend for themselves. Damn those unions trying to protect all those pesky senior citizens that worked their life away for Hostess. Imagine being promised a pension and not willingly choosing to step aside and just die. Those retirees depend on their pension. How would you feel if someone was taking away your parents or grand parents promised pension?

How do you know its because of the union?
    Maybe it's management decisions.

Usually quite a bit of both.

Poor management can get by with a great labor force.
Poor labor force can get by (barely) with great management (although usually mutually exclusive)
Poor Management AND a mediocre or worse labor force can only cause disaster for a company.

Internal stressors such as over the top bonus by management, or managers GUTTING budgets for so-called Cost-Savings, or mandated minimum wages, crazy benefits packages, all cause it.
