That's the first thing that crossed my mind , " what did we learn from chef " ?
I'm betting he's former military .I actually agree with Strand but his leadership style sucks.

I like Strand. Not sure what he is about yet, that girl with the radio needs slapped and her radio taken away. Someone please tell me why they were stopped in the water by a shot up wrecked boat....why? I thought they were making a beeline for San Diego.
That boat isn't huge but it is a good size. Range of 3k miles is only about 2.5k nm. I read about big boats, it was a fantasy of mine. A boat like that should at least have an engineer and a bosun. That would be just too big for one (1) person to take care of on their own.
That said, I think they are making a transition pretty quick. Anyone that doesn't feel some pull to help people in need would be a sociopath. There is a difference between facing reality and having no remorse. Travis and Daniel are quickly getting on a similar page. Strand seems too callous in my opinion, but perhaps that is just a purely logical character.
I'll have to wait and see...

They have no supplies based on some of the comments they made. It sucks, but it is what it is.
Strand is already smarter than 3/4 of the people on The Walking Dead.
Okay, I gave it a chance and I couldn't make it through the episode. I wanted to like this show, but I can't.
It's dull and plodding. I don't like any of the characters or actors (again, with the exception of Reuben Blades).
I'm done.
What he said !There's truth in this statement. But, Strand is also better at making the hard decisions and sticking with them. I think all the older adults knew Strand was making the right call, but couldn't bring themselves to admit it.
