They are letting them fly in from other countries and fly all over the states and this damn thing still isnt spreading like wild fire. Apparently it is rather difficult to spread this disease in a 1st world country

Cause, Ebola is not the dreaded super disease the news make it out to be.
Don't get me wrong, it's no fun for those that catch it. I wouldn't wish it on anyone.
But as far as "bang for the buck" goes, there are plenty of others out there.

    Ebola now in Mali:
BBC News - Ebola crisis: Dozens monitored after first Mali case

Dozens of people are being monitored in Mali after the country confirmed its first case of Ebola.
The patient is a two-year-old girl who recently arrived from Guinea, which along with Liberia and Sierra Leone has seen most of the 4,800 deaths.

I would say that, 2 pop ups of the virus outside of Guinea/Liberia/Sierra Leone, basically on the same day, is bad. Maybe not terrible. But certainly not good.

Airlines/Airports have long been used as a source of spreading disease in fiction.
    12 monkeys anyone????

And, while it may be fiction, ease of transport helps the spread of more than people.
But, you're not going to stop it. How would you? Stop all airlines????

Exactly. With today's constant interwoven global travel, any successful ban is going to have to ban all commercial traffic and close the borders. The economic disaster, panic, and upheaval would be worse than any current epidemic, so such a thing is only justified in a very extreme case.

We are at risk as long as this outbreak continues, and it has to be dealt with by "surrounding" it. It doesn't look for being able to exercise treatment control. It looks to me like the disease will stay ahead of the personnel until a vaccine is developed and administered in high-risk areas. The vaccines are very, very promising but I would take a wild guess and say it would take a year to get ahead of it with vaccine production and administration.

    Happy to be wrong....

Our culture might have a lot to do with that as well. Americans are significantly less touchy and have much larger personal spaces compared to other cultures.

The infections that we have seen so far are somewhat concerning, however it is those that wish to do us harm by using it as a weapon & their own bodies as the delivery system I believe that pose the most danger. They will not be calling the CDC, their doctor or the hospital, they will be visiting buffets, bus lines, prostitutes, etc. to make it as wide spread as possible.

Dude doing the wiki entry for 2014 Ebola Outbreak introduced a new chart value - % avg. daily growth.
Ebola virus epidemic in West Africa - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It only goes back a few weeks, but I reconstructed it back to the beginning of July. Charting that value, and normalizing for a 3 day rolling average, shows that the percentage of new (reported) infections is going down.

A polynomial trendline still suggests somewhere between 12-14k total cases in 30 days. That's still slower than doubling.
