For a start, he needs a Time Machine to go back about six years and stop bowing and making bright red lines he doesn't mean...

Ill take that as a you dont think its possible for us to look strong and not get involved in the war. Anyone else want to give it a try?

No, absolutely not. We look weak because we have acted weak for the last six years. It has nothing to do with us getting involved in a war now we have no business in.

Trying to act tough today is largely a lost cause because of our prior actions of the last six years.

You mean that maybe, JUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUST maybe, ole' Fartbama's weak-knee no-strength yellow-bellied sanctions might actually be having the desired effect of creating pressure on Putin from within the Russian wealthy & elite due to their negative impact on Russian trade within the global economy?

Bu-bu-but INGO said sanctions are weak...

The average Russian in the street isn't overly concerned, but all they get is propaganda. The people in the business sector, on the other hand.....

Speaking of propaganda, I wouldn't bet the farm on it....or even the outhouse for that matter.

I doubt Russia is missing much sleep over it.

When winter comes and Europe is looking to heat their homes, run their machines, etc. Russia, who supplies over a third of Europe's fossil fuels, will start hitting that leverage.

No doubt our candy ass in chief will make some statements about red lines or banning caviar imports to New York or some other such drivel....that will get them shaking!

Who knows. Before long Cuban cigar producers may be selling their products from state owned storefronts all up the east coast and around Mexico's golf. Maybe they'll call them Red Line Cigars.

The bigger question is does Europe need Russia's energy more or less than Russia needs Europe's energy $$$.

If you don't want to be perceived as weak and not have any options and a situation like this, you shouldn't do things like:

-Allow your ambassadors to be killed with impunity.

-Refer to deserters as having served with honor and distinction.

    -Bow to anything that moves.

-Make threats and draw red lines that you know you can't or won't follow through on.

The US has no leverage in Russia largely because we have pulled stuff like the above for the past 6 years. They know us for what we are.

Then why are people complaining Obama isnt doing anything now, if there "arent any options?"
