shift workers day shift, and shift workers day shift don't have to line up.They do if their shift is 8 to 5.
Day shift doesn't have to get there to relieve a grumpy midnight guy.
And day shift doesn't have to wait for his relief coming in late.
shift workers day shift, and shift workers day shift don't have to line up.They do if their shift is 8 to 5.
Just make it 7-4! Fixed! They do if their shift is 8 to 5.
Our shifts are 5-5 but must stay until relieved. With us, different groups worked different hours.
but within that group.. it was pretty well set. If you wanted to come in an hour early, okay. But, you're only paid for the 8, and your relief is still showing up at his time.
And no leaving till your relief was there.
Then that's a shift. Our shifts are 5-5 but must stay until relieved.
Not sure where you are talking about but in the hospital here...shift workers day shift, and shift workers day shift don't have to line up.

If you work 5a to 5p ONLY, then I guess you are a shifter. Not sure where you are talking about but in the hospital here...

They have shift overlap to allow for patient assessment updates and change documentation.
We rotate through on a 6 week rotationThen that's a shift.
Day shift guys are days only, have no relief.
Guys calibrating equipment, payroll, many of the labs, etc.
Though I guess you could have 5 to 5, and you ONLY work 5a to 5p. So I guess then you're 'day shift'.
That would mean the 4-1 shift would have to be changed to 3-12 and the 12-9 shift would have to be changed to 11-8. This is bound to cause problems for some of the hundreds or maybe thousands of people involved so replacements would have to be hired and trained. It is not as simple as you want to make it sound.Just make it 7-4! Fixed!
Then you're a shifter. You sometimes operate on days, just as one shift in a group. We rotate through on a 6 week rotation
Temporary inconveniences. Definitely not insurmountable. Doesn't look like any of them have the issue mike was describing of an 8-5 shift that doesn't get an hour of daylight anyway. So just leave them be. No need to change any of those shifts. That would mean the 4-1 shift would have to be changed to 3-12 and the 12-9 shift would have to be changed to 11-8. We go 4 nights one week, 3 days and 3 nights 2nd week, 4 days 3rd week. Off 4th week. 32 hour 4 8's on days for relief 5th week but we usually vacation that week of getting 2 weeks off for 32 hours. Then a 40 hour training 6th week 5-8s. In summer usually vacation 1 or 2 off for 3 weeks off. Then you're a shifter. You sometimes operate on days, just as one shift in a group.
I had 12 hour shifts sometimes. They sucked.
7 days a week, 12 hours per day. Good for the paycheck. Bad for everything else.
Was attending college through several of those. 7pm to 7am. Then 2 college classes during the day (in my 30s).
Was able to convince management it would work better giving us Sunday off.
Course, that was in a different facility.
But, besides cutting grass and other house stuff, us single guys had to cook food and wash clothes.
Which they don't care about.
Unfortunately, when I had retired, I was averaging 60 hours per week, for years.
If you do the math it averages to 40 hours/week over the 6 week stretch

I have also said 8-5 several times. You were the one that suggested the foolishness of changing the shifts.

This is like herding cats for sure…try putting together a softball team or any group of people for an activity.
You seldom have in the past so I wasn't expecting you to now.I don't see any sense in what you are saying.
The point was work schedule not if there were lights. We always played softball under lights anyway.
