Our judicial system just told us our exact worth in their eyes. This is sickening, this guy was a vet, husband, father, someones child, sibling and these animals kill him over pennies and all they get this. How are they not in prison for life with no parole?
I've officially lost the last little bit of faith I had left in our system................it's worthless!

While I sympathize with the wife and feel badly for her loss, their crime was against society as well. Family members have the best of intent sometimes but it shouldn't have any bearing on sentencing.

I have felt this way for a long time.
LEO snatches them up and the system spits them out.

LWOP has a narrow range usually. There has to be one of several (16) factors present before LWOP is sought.

Like death, LWOP is a tough sell to 12. I've had 2, in both circumstances the jury deadlocked (in one the judge gave the D 188 years).

I pray for his parents. Mr. Vester was firmly a member of the productive class. It is a senseless murder without explanation until one understands the Welfare State that brought it to pass.

I would urge those on INGO wanting to know "why" to read Life At the Bottom. It will give you the "why".

You'd know better than me. I'm just sick of politicians doing the wrong things and these pieces of **** ruining our society. There's no fear of penalties

Prosecuting attorneys would have less fear of penalties if they weren't subject to re-election. Then they would have absolutely nothing to lose. The reason they take plea deals in the first place is to keep their conviction percentage rate up. It also keeps the courts from clogging up. Think of how long it takes some criminals to come to trial now, and that's with 90 ish percent of convictions coming from plea deals.

Mr. Vester was from the little bitty town that I live near. I had never met him or his family that I know of. Glad to hear at least one perp got some substantial time by todays standards. I hope they enjoy their stay.

In fairness, most take so long because of multiple continuances, often by the defense.
