Just a map of South Korean infections.
I am kind of tired of hearing that half are one religious group in the north. This is a visual of where cases are.It paints a slightly different picture than the repeating of news that it is just a Christian cult. They are going to be doing more to limit travel, everywhere.More cities will be locked down. I think Italy is thus far doing the best at this.

Companies Race To Build Next-Gen Facewear To Block Germs

Interesting article. There are no practical/retail-available solutions yet, but multiple companies are working on it. As always, new tech will come out and be comparatively expensive before it grows in quality and quantity for mass consumers. Not likely to make a significant difference for Covid-19, but likely will be more generally available for future needs.

Ao Air's Atmos Faceware is the next generation of mask to block germs up to 50 times better than traditional masks currently on the market

Perhaps supply chain related. I preordered a Holosun 509t from Optics Planet last month and yesterday the estimated to ship within period changed from days to 5-7 weeks.

Reminds me of that movie with the batman actor in a white suit I think that everyone in the planet must wear masks when outside due to some type of virus that infected the world and killed off many. Cant recall the name of the movie.

People need to wash their damn hands.
Go to the bathroom, wash your hands and use a towel to turn off the water and open the door to get out of the bathroom.

Eat at a buffet, wash your damn hands before going to the trouf/buffet. (Follow above bathroom instructions). Then wash your hands again before eating or at least sanitize them because everyone has touched those utensils. Or better yet don't go to buffets.

Just wash your damn hands always. Not that anyone here doesnt ;)
And try not to touch your face.

So simple yet impossible for even 50% of people to do this.

On a whim I ordered these super cheap mini-knives from Ebay the first week of January.
At that time delivery estimate was end of Feb. Last week I checked and it was shipped via Vietnam and may arrive in October. I checked now and they're nonexistent.
I think I lost them forever. :crying:

5 for around 10 bucks. Why not?

I ordered a part from China for my bike with free shipping. Tracking shows they flew it to the US instead of throwing it on the boat. I wonder if the boats are running.

602 cases now in South Korea. No longer limited to 2 cities.

They did up their national alert system to red this morning(Thursday they had a day long meeting and kept in orange...sigh)
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-51603251
“The coming few days will be a critical time for us,” he said at an emergency meeting of government officials to discuss the outbreak, which in just days has spiraled to 602 confirmed infections and six deaths. “The central government, local governments, health officials and medical personnel and the entire people must wage an all-out, concerted response to the problem.”

Deaths outside of China are up to 26 sadly. And increases almost hourly.

    https://bnonews.com/index.php/2020/02/the-latest-coronavirus-cases/

Many countries have not updated in over 24 hours now.Iran declared it would limit reports to the public. It gave reasons I will not repeat.

Take Italy with over 8000 currently awaiting test results.Just keep that in mind.

Have you seen any more about whether infection and recovery confers immunity or whether one can be re-infected? i've been looking but have not seen much on that subject. The timeline to make that call might require too much reliance on questionable (Chinese) sources

Smokingman will likely disagree, but I'm really starting to seriously doubt the reinfection stories are real. Every story I've found keeps reiterating how poor the tests are which I believe results in people feeling better, but not being fully cured and then they are discharged. Here are a couple of examples:

Exclusive: Chinese doctors say Wuhan coronavirus reinfection even deadlier
According to the message forwarded to Taiwan News, “It’s highly possible to get infected a second time. A few people recovered from the first time by their own immune system, but the meds they use are damaging their heart tissue, and when they get it the second time, the antibody doesn’t help but makes it worse, and they die a sudden death from heart failure.”
The treatment meds are damaging their hearts?!? Heart and lung problems are some of the key factors that make you more susceptible to dying from coronovirus.

Also, the source said that false negative tests for the virus are fairly common. “It can fool the test kit – there were cases that they found, the CT scan shows both lungs are fully infected but the test came back negative four times. The fifth test came back positive.”
    ...
There is also anecdotal evidence of people having up to six negative results before being diagnosed correctly.

COVID-19 reinfection cases on the rise in China
Beijing-owned newspaper People's Daily reported Friday a former patient in Szechuan Province in southwest China tested positive for the killer virus behind more than 2,200 deaths in the country.

The patient was discharged from a local hospital and was quarantined for 14 days at home, an apartment in the city of Chengdu, according to the report.

On the 10th day of the isolation period, which was Wednesday, the patient was confirmed for the virus, following a DNA test at a designated hospital.

The patient and the patient's family reportedly never left the apartment under quarantine, and had items delivered to their home by the building's management, according to Chinese state media.
So how was the patient reinfected? Or was the original infection not fully cured?

The reinfection case in Chengdu is not unique, according to physician Zhao Jianping, a respiratory and critical care specialist at Tongji Hospital in Wuhan. Zhao said one his patients tested positive for the virus after being discharged.
    ...
Ceng Yan, a professor of medicine at Wuhan University of Science and Technology, said false negative test results continue to be a source of problems in the city that is at the epicenter of the Chinese epidemic.

I've bolded some key points and inserted a couple of comments. I'm really beginning to believe that problematic testing tools are really making this disease both harder to properly catch and likely allowing people who feel better to be discharged before being fully cured. I'm willing to be convinced otherwise, but I have seen so many comments about the testing system being problematic that I really think that is the source of these "reinfections".

With this disease now becoming more common outside of China, hopefully the medical community will get better information to work with and more hands-on experience including testing different treatment options to help avoid deaths. Hopefully, they'll also be able to develop a better testing kit to help properly identify non-infected, infected and cured cases.

Wat the hell, it really yanks my chain to think the monkey meat I buy on the street may not be safe? What’s the world coming to if you can’t buy fresh safe monkey meat?
