Chinese put 3 dead children in 1 body bag. sad and part of the reason we will never have accurate numbers.

this is ripe for an awful comment but today I will spare you all.

    What are you sad about?
That the Chinese government put 3 bodies in one bag?
If they are underreporting the numbers and have a massive scale problem of dead people putting 3 in a bag is the least of their worries.

I am more concerned with how well they can contain this since they have a massive population.

Only one out of 19 cases are know.
    https://www.imperial.ac.uk/media/im...ial-College-2019-nCoV-severity-10-02-2020.pdf

Most cases are missed for many reasons.
First the test currently used by all to confirm requires symptoms. The virus has to be present in saliva or mucus for the test to work.Only those with symptoms will test positive,by current testing.
and a lack of the ability to test due to the number of cases and the time each test takes(23 minutes per test by cdc guidelines)along with a lack of test kits.

I think the concern is they may be counting body bags, not actual bodies, so the victim count would be artificially low if that were the case.

We furthershow that quarantine and contact tracing of symptomatic individuals alone may not be effectiveand early, strong control measures are needed to stop transmission of the virus.

Add this to my earlier post, and well in short it is probably to late already. But we can try.

So the official comment to me is wash your hands, keep your nails clean and don't touch your eyes, mouth or face and that will reduce your exposure, if it shows up around you....

I could not not get any unofficial comment. My source is a world expert on infectious viruses.

That advice is fine as far as it goes. That is the generic advice you would tell any large population to slow down the spread of most any disease. It involves no special equipment or significant costs and does nothing for anyone who actually contracts the disease.

Death toll has spiked to 1355. Today's jump was the highest recorded, nearly double that of the second-highest day

Number of cases has reached 60,000, over 8000 in serious condition. The sharp rise in number of new cases is apparently due to revised method for counting infections

Wow. Something changed seriously in the stats coming out from China. It was at 44,300 confirmed cases just yesterday.

The Chinese have been figuring out that the throat swab tests that they have been using aren't terribly reliable. You can have symptoms of pneumonia and your lungs can be severely affected, but still test negative.

"They Said We Didn't Qualify": Wuhan Hospitals May Have Turned Away 1000s Of Seriously Sick Coronavirus Patients

Many doctors at Chinese hospitals are petitioning the regime to use chest scans to diagnose patients instead of swab tests, which have been found to be extremely unreliable.

Since private healthcare isn't really a thing in China thanks to their socialist system, once patients are rejected by the government hospital, they have no choice but to return home and try to beat the pneumonia on their own, or at least until they can prove they're infected.

Um, healthcare in China is private for the most part. You have to pay, on the spot, for everything you get including having your temperature taken. Not sure where the writer got his info... Also they no longer bicycle around in Mao suits.
