DANG! You're right. I had no idea the Cash did a cover of that song.

    Knowledge bomb dropped.

You could make a mint cloning Jesus, and renting the clone as a motivational speaker.

I don't know about that. Old school Jesus motivational is not what a modern audience wants to hear.

They'd crucify Him in the media.

I doubt it. When He does come back, there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth. :)

Whoosh! Right past me. I'm not much of a fan of either.

I'm just one Protestant, having some fun.

    :) I know. :)

I am Protestant but I do believe the Shroud of Turin is the burial shroud of Jesus of Nazareth....There is blood stains on there and they found the type I believe...

The blood on the Shroud is real, human male blood of the type AB (typed by Dr. Baima Ballone in Turin and confirmed in the U.S.). This blood type is rare (about 3% of the world population), with the frequency varying from one region to another.

Wasn't it proven to be a fake?

Yes and no. Certain dating techniques (can't remember the specifics) had it as "too new." Then additional analyses of those techniques questioned their validity.

For me, the provenance of the Shroud is shrouded (of course) ;) in enough mystery, and relic-finding was all the rage at the time, that I do not think it is genuine.

No T.Lex, we're not going to clone Jesus.

This could get REALLY meta REALLY quickly. ;) :)

    ^^^ LMAO :D

Well, I thought i would weigh in with the Official position of the Christian Church on this subject so as to settle this matter for all those who ponder such historical oddities.

Of course, it must be stated quite clearly here that the Orthodox Church has no official opinion or view of this relic, and any article written by an Orthodox --however well informed--simply carries the opinion of its author(s), which may or may not be shared with other Orthodox who have given thought to the subject.

Taken from this article here which is probably too long to hold most of your attention spans but is a worthwhile read.

Fr. Alexey Young. The Shroud of Turin: A Mystery Across the Ages / OrthoChristian.Com

Or so i have been told as i didn't have time to read ALL of it.

Wasn't it proven to be a fake?

There has been some reversal on that...In the 80's the radio carbon dating put it at about 1000-1420 AD....It is now believed that the corner they took the sample from had been re woven to repair damage done to the shroud during a fire.....The Los Alamos scientist who was one of the original members of the STRP team went ballistic when two non scientist put forth that theory...They sent images to four of the top textile experts in the world and they all stated the sample had been rewoven....He had the last sample left, stomped his foot down and said I can prove this is nonsense once and for all...He tested the sample and it was a mix of cotton and linen threads....One month before he succumbed to cancer he made a public statement to the effect that he believes beyond a shadow of a doubt the shroud is the burial shroud of the Historic Jesus of Nazareth....

BBC documentary does a good job explaining the new evidence....

So, being young for this group, I didn't know that that was a cover. I thought it was one of Johnny's.

But, like Hurt, it is better by Johnny.

Trent Reznor said that song is no longer his song...It is Johnny's....

Here is a neat little behind the scenes....Worth watching brother.....

The main problem I have with believing it's legit is, how it being discovered during the middle ages, it fits (almost exactly) the middle age paintings, sculptures, and other depictions of Jesus (ie long hair, beard, etc). Then of course you have the strategic placing of the hands, which If not placed in such a way, would have been offensive to audiences (circa the time it was discovered). Nevermind the fact that it was discovered 1300 years, plus, after Jesus's death.

Two years ago I felt the same....I know you like to research...Research this more and I believe you will see that it is what they said it is.....

This image with the same herringbone weave pattern is dated 1192 and is known as the "Pray Codex"...It predates the carbon dating by 200 years...There is also (I am trying to find the image) of the shroud being held by four men carved in a church (in Turkey I believe) that dates from 500 AD....Trust me Kut, the science is leaning towards it being the shroud of the Historical Jesus of Nazareth...Look at the evidence with an open mind and realize most members of the STRP team were not religious and believed it was fake..However, they wanted to know how it was done...Based on evidence from the past five years have almost all come to the conclusion that it is, in fact, the burial shroud of the historical Jesus...

Here is a close up of the pray codex with the four holes in the exact same spot as on the Shroud....

That image above is making these three fellows a little less smug in their assessment....

Also it is still common when burying someone to place the persons hands folded across the groin region...As a matter of fact EVERY funeral I have been to they do that.....This is the day of internet porn so I would say we are over the "hand over the genitals because we are backward puritan's stage"...

Do yourself a favor and give it a listen...at least Johnny's version. ;)

Ok. I listened to both. I'll have to say, I don't get it. But this sort of music is often lost on me.

    Whew! That's depressing.

Johnny does both of them well, for what they are but it's not the type of music I enjoy.
