Those teetotalin', rhythms, no fun First Baptists.... as opposed to the well-heeled,occasionally whisky drinking and dancing Southern Baptists. lol
Don't forget about us Regular Baptist - we're the ones that excel at Euchre.

My church is Separate Baptist, but my theology is "show me in the Bible". Most of the time, if I'm not doing it, it falls more into the "not using your Liberty for an occasion" category.
See the implied purple.
I...aaahhh....Hmm. Huh? Really? No...Really?
Or is the one drinking the whisky the one that posted that?
Baptists celebrate three.
- The Resurrection, Sunday morning.
- The first Evening Service, Sunday night.
- The Crucifixion, Wednesday night.

Thank you for this. I've a passing curiosity about some of the distinctions and this is helpful. I do have some questions, though, intended to be respectful.Baptist (Independent in this context) distinctives:
Bible is the sole authority for faith and practice
Autonomy of the local church
Priesthood of the believer
Two offices: Pastor and Deacon
John the baptist, the cousin of Jesus who most likely knew him his entire life…..yet, would not follow him….?
Baptist (Independent in this context) distinctives:
Individual soul liberty
I think the story of John the Baptist is fascinating. I've mentioned this elsewhere (or maybe even in this thread), but there is a group of people in the Middle East that actually worship John the Baptist above Christ. We know that he had his own following at the time of Christ, and apparently they kept that going. Despite John's protests and re-direction attempt.

What is that?
What is a soul? What I am trying to understand is do you believe you are a soul? That a soul constitutes a person?

Is there biblical support for the above propositions?
You'll have to forgive me. I do plan on getting to this but am in the middle of some very serious family issues right now. If any of the other Baptists on here would like to answer this then have at it. I will answer as soon as I can but can't make any promises.
