    I had to return and add something. Frankly, I initially took your post to be a jibe, as in an intended insult (rather than adjusting the sail to a change in course).
    And then I thought, well, I've only had one cup of coffee and maybe that's not what JK intended at all.
    So now I've a second cup and thought I'd explain even though (or to clarify that) I don't know what you intended.
    Well, it's time to shower, shave, trundling off to breakfast and the labors of the day.

    This Lent I am embarking on a new operation to purge the world of an equally horrible scourge. I am burning every KJV Bible I can get my hands on. NKJV is ok.

    I don't mind if old people want to keep theirs and read it. They (basically) understand the language, and it is both familiar and comforting.

    But if you put the KJV in the hands of anyone under 40 years old, you're functionally telling them that the Bible was written in a way that you're not supposed to understand. Yes, it is technically modern English, but it might as well be a foreign language. Young people cannot read and understand it. And I do not believe that was God's intention.

    I keep a supply of NIV and NLT Bibles that I give away. It's been twenty-some most years for the last decade.
