Questionable parenting isn't generation-specific. I know a girl (because I don't think she's really grown up, at 40) whose mother helped with her rent (even though she had a roommate) up till the day she moved in with the guy (who is my insight into this whole spiel) who decided to marry her. After they were married, he'd get credit card bills with thousands of dollars in unexpected charges on them that she never bothered to mention. She eventually broke up a couple of marriages (hers and another's), declared bankruptcy, married the new guy (the divorce kept making her push back the date), declared bankruptcy again (pretty much to the day when she was eligible to do so again)...

There are, in fact, a lot of examples of millennials who are troublesome in the workplace. How often do we hear about the new hire who is doing a good job, though? We get these coastal millennials who post stupid things or make stupid demands and get some publicity out of it (whether they wanted it or not). However, we're not hearing about the 30-38 year olds who are doing just fine being a part of society and raising a family.

Thankfully, I have seen some reporting about how the generation is more likely to stand up for gun rights, despite the vocal minority.

I’m a “millennial”, I also work 6 days a week, raise 2 kids, and don’t take handouts from anyone. I hate being labeled a millennial, but I think the ones you see on tv or see on the internet aren’t the majority. No different than cops, the looney minority gets all the tv time while the normal good ones never get spoken about. :twocents:

    Don't sweat it.

Being tagged as Gen X wasn't exactly saying, "hard working, outstanding individual" either - pretty much the opposite.

As the youngsters are saying: LOL!
Fox News, so pretty much a very biased/partisan report to get their audience all riled up.
And why choose between MS-13 or a Trumpanzee? There are so many choices outside these two extremes...
At least, the binary view of most Americans is still here I see.

Not trying to grind on you, HS87. I don't see the good apples being able to take back the word millennial. I can see why you would hate being labeled a millennial, but the answer might be looking for a new identifier to seperate you and your compadres from the people who lecture us that boomers ruined the world and now they're going to have to fix it

The reasons that millennial have such a bad rap, is the disproportionate amount of nonsense they are involved; crime, socialism, SJWing, resistance. :dunno:

Dont sweat it, unlike my non-productive counterparts I’m not easily offended and can take criticism. I don’t blame a particular generation, I blame politicians who have never had to put in an honest days work. Really easy to pass legislation that affects everybody but yourself, and as long as they only have to sit in an office segregated from the real world I don’t see it changing. Also, social media, imo, is my generations biggest downfall. Everybody is too lazy to research the “news” that comes across their Facebook feed and take everything their friends/family posts online as fact. Thankfully I think that’s slowly changing and people are beginning to see through the bs... hopefully.

Agree to an extent, most of what you described can be true for Californians as well :)

You have a good attitude HS (for a millennial). :) I myself have raised two fine millennial young men; both are as hard working and honest as anyone on this site. Your earlier point about just hearing about the bad ones is spot-on. It's just like with guns. If you research just about any firearm for problems, you'd think they were all junk, based on just seeing the problems. Most of us don't get on the internet and brag about the perfect guns we own; it's just human nature.
Keep up the good work HS.

Thanks, but most of the credit should be given to my wife. Without her I would probably still be at a college campus blindly following whatever girl happened to have the shortest skirt that day:):

Joking aside, I just wanted to show there is still hope for the country. The problem is most of my friends who hold my beliefs have no faith in the system and refuse to vote. They all have the same opinion, our vote doesn’t matter and they put who they want in office. I always reply with “do you honestly believe the deep state wanted Donald Trump as president?” They have no desire to get involved in anything political.

Are we still on the hurting of millenial feels. Lets poll the people living the dream, those involved in hiring

I work with a lot of Millennials. So I'd rate them this way :

    People Savvy: 25%
    Tech Savvy: 90%
    Loyalty: 10%
Fun Loving: (depends how you define "fun") 30 - 70%
    Hard Working: 60%

Maybe it's because they're doing what really interests them, but they are mostly hard workers. The rest I agree on. Offer them a few more dollars, maybe an on-site game room, better office chair...they'll jump ship.

Id say that’s pretty much about right, statistically speaking... except the jumping ship part. I can’t really speak for that, I’ve been with the same company for most of my career (1 before this one), and only worked with two other millennials. One quit to be IMPD, the other has been with our company since he started his career. I’m lucky and work with all older folks who share a lot of the same beliefs.

Oh, and recently added a guy that just graduated last week, listens to Ben Shapiro all day so I’m pretty sure I know where he aligns himself.

WOW! WHERE ARE YOU GOING WITH THIS CRAP?!

I was a teen at the end of the Viet Nam War ('68)........and was born in 1951..... a "Korean War baby".

I wish somebody had told the pentagon this news; my dad was sent over there in January '69 and there was still PLENTY of shooting going on!

One stat they needed to add: clothing. Dude came to a meeting at work in sleep shorts, flip-flops, a tee shirt with what we'll just call a rude message (I'm pretty sure the stain on the shirt was pizza sauce). Unlikely that a comb had touched his head in months. I'm fairly sure that he never had a haircut in his adult life. Up until just a few years ago, he'd have been fired for coming to work like that.

We had a guy, probably in his 50s guessing, come in smelling like a brewery asking for an application. We gave him directions to our main office. A couple hours later he returned ranting and raving about us giving him wrong directions (we didn’t, we wanted the owner to meet this guy for the humor). It took some “convincing” to get him to leave the property.
