I Built a Scout Rifle out of one of my M38's.
It came with a M44 stock.
ATI stock, Scout scope mount, BSA LER scope.
Bent bolt (Not installed in this picture)

Makes for a nice light and handy rifle.
I made no permanent changes to the rifle.

I kinda meant I'd probably put a black stock on it....which most Mosin guys here probably wouldn't like.

Meh, it's not like you're taking a beautiful, rare, expensive rifle and mutilating it. And hell, it is your rifle.

karlsgunbunker's scout rifle look pretty cool...the man took the robust Mosin and built himself something that "Makes for a nice light and handy rifle." Nothing wrong with that!

Karl, what brand of mount did you use? I purchased one, and it fell off after the 5th shot. :-(

I have a scout scope mount I will GIVE away for nothing. That is how much it is worth lol. It is a NCStar one and will not hold a zero for anything. grumpe had the right idea with hers(see my photo album). Though i would not spend what she did on a 80 dollar rifle(that scope was 200 I think and another 100 for a gunsmith to properly install it ....but she loves her mosin carbine sniper)

I went out and bought the M44 Carbine from the Castleton Gander Mtn. on Nov. 5th, I still have yet to get out and shoot it, but I love it already. Cheap, good looking, simple and robust. Plus, I like the idea of owning a gun that has a fixed bayonet. :twocents:
