Veterans come from across America. So, they kinda reflect America. They are not monolithic.

    :yesway:

I still smell a liberal plant.

This is my suspicion as well. But I'm not going to deny the possibility that the guy is just being honest about how he feels. Anyone gun owner who makes that same argument as the gun control zealots, is either honest but delusional or is being flat out dishonest. I guess I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he's delusional.

With all due respet, he can do what his little mangina tells him to do, but this vet will never give up his weapons. He can go pound sand.

    But...but.. he's a veteran!

"Arms training began in Army ROTC" not before.

Yeah...still human, still fallible. I fail to see how his actions makes an impact on the psychos that commit these crimes.

The anti-s like to pull out the "this veteran says", or "this LEO" says.
Sorta making a claim that, you don't know about guns, but these guys do.

The problem is, not all servicemembers are trained on firearms, and not all LEOs are proficient in firearms.
(Not a slam, or making a claim about all being bad with guns. Just that, not all are experts).

The problem with that argument, I can find opposite opinions in groups of active duty servicemen, veterans, and LEOs.
    So, that kinda negates it.
More important, is any "reason" they may state, for or against.

You could add to the argument by polling all veterans/LEO to find out the percentages. I would suspect that the ones in favor of gun control are the outliers.

What does veteran status have to do with whether a person is right on gun control?
Because they are greatly respected on THAT issue.

Completely ignorant on healthcare and retired military benefits, though. Also shouldn't be trusted on foreign policy. I can't remember if we are supposed to praise or deride them on the Economy?

Why did he argue that an AR-15 isn't suitable for home defense? It is the weapon I would grab if I needed to defend myself at home provided I had the time... much more forgiving than my carry pistol, and I see no reason not to give myself the best possible chance. I'd even go for my 9mm carbine before a handgun at home.
