I went and saw the movie today and it was pretty disappointing.

How does it compare to The Right Stuff? I mean, The Right Stuff should be considered the definitive work on the matter (especially the book), with nothing else to say, but I also realize that Hollywood has trouble coming up with new stories.

Well, shaky works for some situations, so the idiots get carried away with it.

And they had to try to make everything seem ready to fall apart all the time.
Everyone knows what happens. We went to the moon.
So they have to "drama" it up.

Not even close, not even remotely similar movies. Sort of like comparing Bonnie and Clyde to Public Enemies.

The Right Stuff was enjoyable, just long. I didn't really enjoy First Man, came close to walking out.

FWIW, I loved The Right Stuff, but I would consider Carrying the Fire to be the definitive work on the subject.

    Whoa.

I'll set aside my inherent skepticism only because I am unfamiliar with that book. :) I'll check it out, but Wolfe's book - more than the movie, of course - delved deeply into many aspects of the program overall. I see Carrying the Fire is autobiographical, which can be good or bad.

Thanks for the recommendation, though, either way.

Thanks for the virtual rep anyway. To be fair, I am thinking strictly in terms of the moon mission, which is what the movie is mostly about. The Right Stuff is certainly more comprehensive.

What breed is this service dog

    a c*ckless spaniel?

    an in-breed?

She thinks she looks so badass, too.

We want the pics she sent him!

Ah, to be 14 again with teachers like that! My female teachers would have given Russian prison guards a run for their money...

Yeah, but if that happens at 14... it's all downhill from there.

And he only has himself and his mom to blame!

On another note, can you imagine what her firefighter ex must feel like? Tossed over for a 14 yo kid? Wow, his masculinity must be in the dumps. He’s a true victim of this I think.
