There's a small pin (about 1/8 inch) that runs down the center. It breaks under torque and then the rubber starts tearing. Remove the pin, drill the holes out so you can run a half inch bolt through. Tack the bolt in place.

So I just tried to loosen the 6 bolts that are holding my skid plate in. I figured it would be smart to start soaking them in PB, that way when I do my SYE, I won't have any problems.

Those 6 bolts are VERY tight. I was able to loosen 3 of them, but haven't been able to take them all the way out. The other 3, I'm going to have to get a torch and an impact.
Be careful with an impact on those bolts. The threaded inserts have a habit of spinning. Then, you have to start cutting and welding to "fix" them. Lots of heat and an impact on a low setting seems to be the ticket.

I've got a 1998 Grand Cherokee with a shift problem. Troubleshooting indicates an intermittent 3-4 shift relay problem. It acts up once the tranny comes up to operating temp. As long as the tranny is cold, it shifts normally. I am looking for a good Jeep specialist that can help me get the relays in the tranny changed out to hopefully get this problem solved. I plan to slide under it this weekend to find the power connectors and clean them up, in case they have corroded and causing the problem. I also plan to pick up a new transmission relay to install into the main fuse/relay box under the hood.

Any suggestions on who may be able to help?

    Thanks

Ryan, should I sign up as a driver or loader? I won't be bringing my Jeep this year... but I DO need to get working on it.

Currie Currectlync steering. Last night, I adjusted my draglink to re-center my steering wheel. I do know that I don't want the bolts to get too close to the track bar. But does it matter where they end up positioned to?

I'd say "loader". We need a fairly accurate count of vehicles, to be sure we have coverage.

Doesn't really matter. Just so they don't hit anything, and you can get to them again later.
