No, we don't. It's a great game and they've changed up some parts of it. I'm loving it and I've played the franchise since it was called Wasteland, back on the Commodore 64. Gamers are loving F4, changes and all.

Whoa! I remember that game, but on DOS. I had no idea it was related. Cool, but that's the last one of the series I actually played. :D

    ETA:
Did play Morrowind... most of the way through.

The best weapon for taking out big things is the smallest.

Use the 10mm kneecapper to barrage a huge opponent, then just dump on him with yer big gun. They lose all mobility and you get to take yer time with 'em.

I dunno, Doug. I've grown quite fond of the .45 combat rifle. Works like a charm against virtually everything from synths to deathclaws and yua guai. Although, I do use my 10mm (modded up and compensated) quite a lot. Works pretty well on ghouls.

Combat rifle definitely feels like the best all-around... suppressed, dot-sight, modded up... takes out the small stuff while sneaking in one shot (inc raiders, ghouls, some mutants). Nice being semi-auto.

The "assault rifle" in the game is a bit different from how it used to be (and some people aren't happy about that).

I get along fine with the "Deliverer" (Unique Suppressed PPK), Combat rifle, and Suppressed Sniper Rifle... but that's just the build I went with. Your mileage, will of course, vary.

Careful what weapons you give your followers.... if they get their hands on a Fat Man... you might not last long

Shotgun and .308 are my weapons of choice....missile launcher for tougher targets...mini nuke if I absolutely positively must wipe out everything in a 25 feet radius.

Deathclaws are tough, legendary deathclaws with a skull next to their names is near impossible to defeat without leveling up and/or power armor

Looking forward to these mods being made:

    1. Allow Dogmeat to follow you in addition to another follower.
    2. Craftable keys... that you can assign to doors. Keep Settlers OUT OF MY ****ING HOUSE AND OUT OF MY BED. Sanctuary isn't a damn commune. My bed is my own, and if Marcy doesn't get her ass out of it I'll put a .50 in her head and drape her over the fence as an example to others.

I carry several weapons. My primary IS the .45 combat rifle. Have a goodun' and slowly modding it. However, what I am talking about is what Caleb is mentioning below. You see an uber deathclaw or supermutant that is just unholy, you pull out your "wimpy" little 10mm kneecapper and dump about a clip or two in 'im. Then, when it is clapping it's paws and sayin', "help, I've fallen down but 'ah can't get up" you sit back from a tactically superior position and blow the snot out of him with the weapon of yer choice.

That little kneecapper is cheap on ammo and with a flat 20% to take out a leg with every hit... big enemies are much humbled.

Agreed again on the combat rifle. I do miss having a Garand or getting a 12mm pistol. Those were fun.

Also agree on followers. Pipes never gets grenades or molotovs to carry ever again!

Same here. My primary is the .45 combat rifle, but my secondary is a Recon, suppressed sniper rifle. Thisun' helps "thin the herd" before we go in and deal with the rest of the ner-do-wells. When I meet a big ugly and need to get up close and do damage the ported combat shotgun comes out and blows them into next week.

This IS very annoying!!! And some say Fallout 4 is an "improvement."

In Fallout 3 I had my own home that had Codsworth in that little town (forget the name.) My stuff was my own. I went to the local shopkeeper and she put in some new boxes to organize, but you never saw her in there.

In New Vegas (which I prefer to FO3) you get the VIP suite on the strip. Again, no one in there but yer followers.

I wound up downloading a mod from Nexus Mods, a great resource, that gave me a home in the town you wake up in. A GREAT little home with a helluva basement! Loved that mod. Yet again, no one in thar but me and mine.

Maybe the new programmers are all Bernie Sanders Socialist followers...:dunno:

I love the weapons modification system but I am not a big fan of the weapons selection. I wish they would've just kept it simple and stuck with the weapons from Fallout 3 and NV. The new 'assault rifle' looks like a completely impractical, 20lb, bulbous hunk of crap. The pipe weapons are whatever - could've done without em. I like how they made the hunting rifle a .308, but WHY would they make the combat rifle for .45 ACP? :n00b:

Beyond those gripes, I think the selection is rather slim compared to the older games. Would it have been difficult to just take the code from weapons in 3 and NV and transfer them into the new game? I'm no programmer, but logic would dictate that would be easier than programming completely different weapons. :dunno:

I also like like how they put less emphasis on maintaining weapons and gear, but would like to see some sort of cleaning kit or repair kit that must be applied every so often to avoid jamming or breakage.

    Just my :twocents:

Just stayed playing fallout 4. Love it so far.

Honest request here. IF you haven't played Fallout before pick up Fallout 3 and let us know what you think of the difference.

After that you can try Fallout, New Vegas which I think is fun too.

Overall, I am very disappointed with the lack of character development that has happened. I also think their base weapons in FO4 suck. Had they just stuck with what they had in FO3 and FNV and THEN put this new spin on things it would be much improved.

So if you are new I would like your take.

    Regards,

    Doug

So I have been playing Fallout 4, for a few days and figured I would give my first impression since I am new to the series. Currently I am a little over 10 hours in and as of right now I am not totally in love with it but I still enjoy it for the most part. Some things I dislike are how in the skills tree it needs to be more noticeable that you can upgrade from the other lines. It took me awhile to realize that the others were available and I think it should be the brighter color when unlocked. Another problem is the lack of someone to buy and sell to in the beginning. I felt like I was constantly giving everything to codsworth to hold on to until I randomly found the diner. I mean if you aren't going to have someone at the sanctuary to sell at least make it a mission to find the diner.
I also feel the game doesn't save enough. I don't like making progress and completing objectives then you die and you have to go way back before you even talk to the person in the first place. But despite these flaws and probably some I have missed I am still enjoying the game and am looking to get new Vegas and 3. While they are on sale from Steam.
