I got a unique problem in my house :) can't seem to get the spouse on the same page. She just wants to be minimally prepared and can't see the need for anything past 7 - 10 days.

Pretty easy to do without their knowing. If you ever need it, you can whip it out and show her why it's needed. If not, you can leave the buckets in the garage for a long time.

We have seen a shift with this administration to socialism. And Socialism is about lowering everyone's standard down to a common denominator, rather than encouraging people to reach for a higher standard of behavior, work ethic, wealth or lifestyle. The sheep who scorn you prepping probably do not even realize they have been sold a bill of goods and brainwashed by these forces.

People will scorn you if you live below your means and build wealth also. It seems being exceptional or doing an exceptional thing is only allowed in professional sports today.

They are not angry because you prep. They are angry because they know deep down that you wont "share" your goodies with them when SHTF.

They have gotten used to people taking from others as being acceptable, and even encouraged behaviour. They see you as "greedy" in your endeavor to survive while they may die as being less than noble.

If (as an example only) you were to tell them in a disaster you would be distributing all of your food evenly to those around you, they would stop being angry and would likely be the first in line for a handout without as much as a "thank you" when it hits the fan.
No matter what they say, they will be the first types of people who will be coming for your stuff if the SHTF and the most ruthless too.

They are a product of our brainwashing culture/system, and they are worthless if they do not wake up.

It DOES affect them, because ...

... they see how stooopid they are, and they get mad at you, and then get jealous, and then want to do something about it, but then their yuppie friends would condemn them and then they'd get mad at you - - - - no. wait ... they are ALREADY mad at you! Never mind. They're just stooopid.
I am not a prepper, but I typically have a weeks worth of food and of course a few guns. This is the problem with people. Why should anyone care what you do if it is not illegal and does not effect them?

    They are not really "worthless"

I can always k*ll them first and eat them and take their pets and canned-goods too. <======purple [\quote\]No matter what they say, they will be the first types of people who will be coming for your stuff if the SHTF and the most ruthless too.

What I find irritating is the snarky looks I get when they are saying , " Well then , if some thing really happens , we are going to your house ".

I see it as a ....... passive aggressive low level threat or a test of my response and I'm not really sure what to say .....

This is why I do not talk about preparing for the unknown any more ..

+1 to this.. Its nobodies business what is in my house. The less everyone knows about what I have the better I feel.

Thanks for the tip, I should be able to get somewhere with that idea. The guns and ammo I will do on my own but she is so good with the sales ans coupons.... would get a lot more for a lot less with her on board.

My wife is the chief purchasing agent. I do the mechanical things as in making room/shelving/hiding some of the goods/self defense prep etc. She brings the goodies in from the store. With out her it would be MRE's...........period

Yea but the problem is we are in good ol' Indiana and there won't be anything major here weather wise. I know about New Madrid but that wouldn't really affect Central Indiana even if it was major. There is the tornado angle but that kinda falls in line with the 7-10 day window. Any non-weather related reason would be met with

I got yelled at by the family on Christmas day when I filled the biggest pots we have with water and put them on the stove when that big-bad-storm was supposed to come. Heh.

Water! Doesn't it figure that the most critical item for survival is also the one that is a big pain in the @$$ to keep. Volume, weight and amount required not to mention expense if you are buying it so you have good clean sealed containers.

What if something big happens (such as the New Madrid) and they can't get the supplies to Indiana for awhile or if the truckers get fed up with paying the diesel prices and cause a big supply problem. Most of all what if you lose your job. Wouldn't it be nice to pay your mortgage/rent, elec., and water bills with the money you have and just go to the pantry for your food needs for awhile. Even if you never "Need" your supplies, it saves you money in the long run because when you rotate your stock you can always wait on a good sale price to replace your stock. I just like the peace I have knowing I've done what I can, and I have saved my family money to spend on something more enjoyable. Woot! Woot!
