It is a test, a self graded one. Here is something I always think about.

There is snow and ice on the ground. Imagine if God forbid there was a house fire in the middle of the night. How far away were your "proper" shoes? Too many people keep their shoes downstairs instead of in the bedroom. Imagine you and your kids standing in the ice and snow with socks on.

already thought of that. almost all of my shoes are in the bedroom along with the safe that has the important documents in it and the guns are locked in the safe.i also have a winter coat with gloves and hat in the closet. it has a key to the truck in it

7) Where is your rifle? See above. All firearms are in the safe except for the one pistol on me and the G17 in the bio-safe at the nightstand. There is an HK p7 in the electronic safe in the bathroom, too. 5 yr old and 8 yr old in the house. Either on my person or locked away. The days of having firearms stashed in unlocked spots are long gone for me.
8) Ever fall down stairs wearing socks? Heck yeah! All the time. I try to go barefoot or wear shoes.
9) Would you really want to check a noise outside the house with a long gun during the daytime. Not in fishers...
10) If you house had been broken into last night you would have been armed with a pistol too? Yep. G17 with the spare G18 mag and the Fenix from the bio-safe.

I think everyone will learn different things as they read the replies. What sticks out in my head is that if someone goes on a home invasion spree in IN on SUN mornings their will be a lot of barefooted gunfighters, most using pistols.- George

Interesting stuff. It does seem like most folks responded during daytime, so most had a pistol closest to them. I suppose a similar question would be -- which one is closest to you at night? For me, that would be a Mossberg 590A1....I call it Group Therapy.
