1. Computer desk in front room/living room
2. Sort of; wearing shorts that I sleep in and a belt over them to hold them up and to support my holster (this is how I dress at home)
3. Nope. I'm Fred Flintstone unless I'm outside.
4. The one in my holster. Well, actually two others are right beside my head on a shelf (what I carried last night).
5. One is in the holster I am wearing. A couple of others about eight inches from my head on a shelf. No need to mention anything else.
6. The closest loaded shotgun is about four steps away on the other side of a doorway.
7. About a step and a half away. There is another about six steps away, but it doesn't have a magazine in it right now.

Of course there are flashlights in every room in this house. Of course, I also have three on my all the time (a Battery Junction keychain light on my neck chain), a Streamlight MicroStream in my tshirt pocket, and a modified Surefire G2 in my pocket. When I'm asleep, I usually have an Olight M20 Warrior either next to me or hanging around my neck.

My mobile phone is also always on my person, either in my shirt pocket or clipped on my belt (like right now).

And I always have knives too. I have an Ontario RAT-1 folder clipped to my right pocket, an original Camillus Heat clipped in my left pocket, a Victorinox Super Tinker SAK in my right pocket, and a Buck 110 (with a CPM 154CM blade) in my back pocket.

Yes, I sleep with that crap in my pockets.

I also have a whistle on my neckchain with the light and some religious medals.

Ever fall down the stairs from slipping because of socks? Nope, my stairs are carpeted and have pretty good grip.

Also seems that most of use even though we own long guns have them put up or away from us. I guess we will have to handle business with a pistol. Since it is SUN morning and you never know how is out and about that may be best, would you really want to check a noise outside the house with a long gun during the daytime.

I am also going to assume nobody locked up the long guns when they got up so if you house had been broken into last night you would have been armed with a pistol too? For now this is true, a handgun is my primary HD gun. However, once I finish comfirming my SBR is back up to speed, it is my primary HD gun for things that go bump in the night.

Another question, did you have a flashlight in the room where you slept last night? Yep, one mounted on my G34 and a Surefire E2e.

The flashlight question is very timely, I just completed a low light class with the ACT fellas last evening. Great class and great practice shooting while using a flashlight.

This is good stuff to think on. I was having this discussion last night actually, convincing someone that a handgun in the safe upstairs is really not much good when the BGs come in your front door and confront you.

The trouble is, I spend plenty of time around the house with MY gun safely tucked away in another room. Not much good if I need it, huh?

When I'm home, my S&W 642 38 snub is usually in my pocket(jeans or robe) or belt.I always thought better to have a small convenient 38 ON ME than to have the front door crash open while sitting on the couch, or the toilet with nothing! The 9mm is close by too. Now we don't have kid(s) running around either. If that's the case the guns should be locked up or ON YOUR PERSON.
