Without a political reason it's just a large scale murder. The number of victims is irrelevant to have it classified as terrorism.
Same way a terrorist attack can have no victim at all.

Murders can still terrorize people especially when you have lots of victims or when it happens really close to where you live.

    I understand what you're saying.

Personally, I just disagree with the political "box" this term has been placed in. Murder, if done out in public, to me, is also terrorism. It was an act done to incite terror among the people.

But again, I'm not Merriam or Webster, so my personal definition may be just that, personal.

I'm reading chatter the the shooter was a felon. Any official word on his past yet?

Report I heard this morning on the radio said he had no previous contact with law enforcement.
Clark County, NV, docket search only shows a civil case someone with his name brought against a property owner (kinda sounds like a casino, but not sure) for premises liability. Lasted a couple years, then appears to have settled.

Yeah. I read he filed suit against hotel for a 'trip & fall' case. Thrown out but subsequently settled.

He was an accountant and a single-engine pilot. Not your usual meth-head.

The Nevada CPA licensing online search doesn't show anyone with his name on it. He may have been retired, though, and/or licensed in a different state (I think).

Oh jeez. Just heard some Islamic group is claiming responsibility. Say he converted to Islam months ago. It's a messed up world when people WANT to be associated with a mass murderer.

Wow woke up to this in Nevada myself, doesn't sound like an M-16 to me either, funny but more like a full auto .22 conversion.
I am in Reno Nevada up north for two more weeks until I get back home again to Indiana, and we had a weekend biker convention that was peaceful by the way, just very LOUD.

I just ordered a case of 9mm and a case of .40 from SGAMMO.COM, cause you know how the panic buying begins.......with me!

So sorry for the injured and deceased.

Just checking in to subscribe/follow. I've not read any posts prior to this one, and likely won't go back. So, any discussion will be devoid of that context.

I'll give my usual admonition: allow 48 hours for facts to shake themselves out of the "breaking" news cycle.

I've considered this, but seriously doubt I'd carry even a small medical kit to a concert. I think a better solution is to get some tactical trauma training and start thinking of ways to improvise the tools you'd need in such a situation. Even if you carried a tourniquet you're only going to treat one wound on yourself or another. I think software is key in these situations.

Carrying a tourniquet can still save YOUR life and make it possible for you to then save others with improvised medical gear.

It's also one of the hardest thing to improvise when you have very little time to gather materials.
When you need a tourniquet you need it right now, not 1 minute from now, you won't have time to improvise one to treat yourself.

I always carry a tourniquet in my pocket and have a larger med kit in a bag that I try to keep with me as often as I can.

One of the most useful thing you can carry, besides a tourniquet, is a pair of nitrile gloves.
It takes virtually no room in your pocket and will allow you to help others (providing you have some basic training).

You will have to improvise some stuff at some point if you have multiple victims.

But in order to do that you will have to be either not injured or to have treated yourself first (and quickly) so to me you need both a medical kit on you AND the knowledge to improvise medical stuff.

Having a pocket knife on you will allow you to use the victim's clothes to make your own bandages.

Nope, but I bet Aldean was told to get off stage via earpiece. Many people had no idea what was happening or where to go. You could not ask for a better PA system than they had there

Does someone have to tell people what to do ALL the time instead of expecting them to make decisions for themselves?

    • Put your phone down and start thinking and being situationally aware, especially if you hear gunfire.
    • If you hear gunshots start making some decisions to protect your life and those you love.
      • Run
      • Hide
      • Fight
      • Wait for an announcement
    • Know the difference between concealment and cover.
    • Don't wear flip flops when attending events with large crowds.
    • Strip off your shirt and apply pressure to bleeding wounds (some concert goers took action and did that).

I was wondering about the windows. They don't open in that type of building and must have been broken by the shooter in order to open fire down the street.
So that's the same room and he might have shot from two different angles/locations? :dunno:

i heard reports of 10 rifles and two shooting platforms. Makes sense if he used two windows
