My woods gun is a Ruger GP100 .357, ordering a Simply Rugged chest holder for it tomorrow. My deer gun is a Marlin 1894C in .357. Long live the .357!

I havnt shot mine in a Long time. I have a Taurus 357 Magnum. I need to either start shooting it again or get rid of it. I want to own a weapon that I will actually practice with.

I've got several. My EDC is named "pants" because I don't get out of bed without putting it on and it is a SP101 snubby in .357. I LOVE my .357 wheelguns and my .40 autoloaders. I've almost got my entire collection of handguns converted to those two calibers. My only question though, if I get a 9mm drop in barrel for my XDSC.40 will I have to admit to owning a 9mm? I've always sworn I never would....

I have a CX4 in .40 to go with my .40 handguns and have been looking for the right deal on a .357 lever gun to match my revolvers....I like having caliber diversity but really have started moving to commonality instead. Does that 1894 ever get finicky? I've heard the often need some major adjusting right out of the box and periodically afterwords too.

.357 is my favorite all-around handgun cartridge. My favorite handguns over the years have included many .357 revolvers including the S&W 19, 686, & 27. I also like the Ruger GP100 and SP101.

I have an 1894 CSS and it has been 100% reliable, I put XS ghost ring sights on it and it has also been incredibly accurate.

I have heard that 38 spc. has been problematic in them, I don't know for sure, I have only shot 357's outa mine.

38's work fine in my 1894 but they will have a catch/bobble infrequently since they are a little shorter than 357 Mag cases. it's still not that big of a deal still works fine you just will notice it won't be a smooth as it "should" be. Mine is funny in it seems to never happen but at the couple Cowboy Action matchs I shot in!

I bought a GP100 6" two years ago and have been in love ever since. My next gun will be a 357 lever action as soon as I can find a good deal.

My S&W Model 66-2 is one of my 14 year old sons favorite pistols to shoot. He runs through all the 357 ammo at the range first and she sleeps under my pillow every night :D

I still love my Ruger GP100 and shoot it as often as I can. With a 6" barrel, its not much of a carry gun, but I do deer hunt with it!!

How well does it work for deer hunting? I have the same gun, but did not hunt with it this year.

I did load up some 180gn XTP rounds that should be moving around 1200fps for hunting.
