Well while SB1 does some great things for us, I think that main point of the act is nothing more than more feel good legislature, I mean come on, 1 RO for a School corp that spans over 400 sq. miles! Give me a break! I am ecstatic that the roaming GFSZ's are/will be gone, but the fact of the matter remains that our children are still not anywhere near "safe" while they are attending school. :xmad:

I have written Gov. Pence and my reps to praise them, and in once case mildly scold them, on SB1 and HB1563 passing, however I am not satisfied with SEA1, as I don't believe any of us should be. It is a small step in the correct direction for children's safety, but much, much more needs to be done. Now for our cause SEA1 is a HUGE win for us. :D

Correct you are, I missed that in the text. Thanks for pointing it out. My posts have been corrected and you have a rep inbound (as soon as I can.)

Nope. I'm never wrong. I thought I was once, but I was mistaken.

To clarify, Opus is correct, the law is effective July 1, 2013.

    Blessings,
    Bill

Blasphemy! [STRIKE]He's gone out of his way to provide accurate, up-to- date info, and all you can think about is any little detail that may be "wrong". [/STRIKE]

 Now that's more like it.

Well, except for the (IIRC) three times in almost four years you (tangentially) disagreed with me on (usually) an abstract concept. However, that can be explained by saying I didn't describe it correctly.

    So you're still golden. :)

I have been asked to speak at the annual "Indiana Law Update" CLE (continuing legal education) conference being held on September 26-27 at the Indiana Convention Center on the issue of "Gun Law." As part of that program, I have written an article entitled, appropriately enough, "2013 Indiana Gun Law Update." It's going to be published on ICLEF's website and it'll be handed out at the program - and if anyone can tell me how to post a link to a .pdf on here, I'd be happy to post it here as well at some point. It covers a lot of what's been discussed throughout this thread, including HB 1563 and SB 001, as well as my Redington case ("dangerous persons" statute) and Hammond case (preemption statute). A lot of the discussion of those cases is taken right out of the briefing and the courts' decisions.

I only have 30 minutes for my presentation, so I didn't try to make the article all-encompassing, but I believe it hits the highlights (or lowlights, depending on your perspective).

If any of my fellow INGO lawyers are planning to attend the conference, please let me know - It'd be great to see you there.

Oh, Jeremiah, why are you participating in gun shoppe teeth talk?

And when you asked for the citation what was the response?

*Teeth over lower lip* "The law says . . ."

"Is that so? Where does the law say this?"

I'm thinking I read this in the IC not so long ago. I was surprised too.
