1st 1911, well first one I bought that made it home with me!

Very nice Smith you have there. I've been kicking around the idea of picking up up a S&W 1911 for a while now based on Bob at PSS recommendation. While yours is a higher end model, I've heard Bob say a couple of times that he feels Smith's basic E series 1911 is the best out of the box 1911 you can get for under $1000. I'm tempted to see if he's right.

Funny, he said the same thing about the SA "Loaded" he sold me.:)

It's funny you mention that. He made that comment to me while I was fondling a Springfield Loaded. Either he's had a change of heart, or he's crazy as a bed bug. :)

Either way, I think you will have a nice pistol. A friend of mine has one of the S&W's and really likes it. It was on my list, but the SA showed up first, so I snagged it.

    I agree, I love my SW1911. I haven't had a problem in the 2 years I've owned it!

A few months ago another officer and good friend of mine made me an offer that I couldn't refuse. He asked me if I was in the market for another pistol, so I asked him if a one legged duck swam circles. Soon we exchanged $850 for a Kimber Warrior. It's a gently used and carried duty weapon that he bought new and has only put about 300 rounds by his estimate. Since then I've put 500 flawless rounds through it with a mix of WWB and Speer Gold Dots (since I care enough to send the very best). It's got some holster wear, and is by no means a safe queen.....perfect for carry and duty if you ask me. I think I got a pretty good deal. What say you?

The detail strip and clean prior to using frog lube to give it some proper lubrication. My buddy even though he's a serious gun nut, and certified glock armorer had never done a detail strip and cleaning......she was a bit of a dirty girl.

Still debating what to do with the finish.... thinking of doing a sniper gray cerekote for frame and then black for the slide....or possibly even a Black Nitride from a local place here in town....idk....decisions decisions....
