Can you imagine the nerve of the media to assume that someone with the last name of Zimmerman was white and not Hispanic?

The way I was taught in school, journalism revolves around answering the following questions: Who, what, when, where, why, and how. Assumptions don't figure into the process.

I am not going to try arguing that assumptions are not standard fare, but at least that isn't according to the book, therefore the media are not excused for an error in the process of doing something they should not have been doing in the first place. Besides, if we know it there was sufficient information available for them to have known it before we did.

In a state of acute Pork-i-docis
Regarding lesser charge thing; Does no one remember Casey Anthony? She walked because the prosecution asked for charges the jury did not feel they could apply. If the jury is offered 2nd degree alone, I'm pretty sure Z is walking.

In Casey Anthony, the prosecution charged I believe 4 mutually contradictory counts, thereby indicating the jury that the prosecution didn't even have a real idea of what had happened.

IMO, that in many ways contributed to the not guilty. If jurors realize that the prosecution doesn't even claim to know what happened, they have reasonable doubt on platter.

    Best,

So can we start taking bets or call a Vegas bookie on the odds that Z will walk?
    :dunno:

From everything I have read I say the law was on his side on this one. Now what is 2nd degree murder I'm not sure "legal speak" but I wish him luck and hope he gets some good attys just like Casey Anthony.

On the bright side since this will now go to trial and that will take a while the riots once happen anytime soon. & by the time the trial is done and over with the :sheep: will be too busy with something else.

pretty much the folks who are in an uproar over this are usually the type who dont need much reason to riot

    jake

Absolutely! Those people would riot because it's Tuesday and they are wearing mismatched socks. Throw in something incendiary like a manufactured racial incident with the Jacksons and Sharptons of the world cheerleading and a riot is a foregone conclusion.

I agree. The case will lose steam and the media will get distracted.
