On the most recent Handgun Radio Podcast, there was a guy in Alaska who recently dropped a moose with a 10mm. Took 11 rapid shots but it did the job

The gun was the compact Springfield XDm. Ammo was 180 gr CCI brass FMJ.

Podcast below. It will play right from the webpage. Go to the 37 minute mark for the guy telling the story.

I dont think it TOOK 11 shots thats just when he happened to stop at that distance I think even through a shoulder you’d get the job done in a single shot.

He mentioned that in the podcast. They were mostly head shots.

There was an old video of a guy on a 4 wheeler in a snowy state somewhere that was charged by a youngish moose and what he dropped it with, if memory serves, was the compact .40 glock. He definitely mag dumped it, but I'm not surprised at all 10mm did the job. I'd definitely need a new pair of pants if I do much as came across a bull moose and all I had was a handgun, though.

he used good rounds, the 180gr CCI brass was one of the loads I stocked up on. It’s not downloaded to being a spicy .40, it’s a proper 10mm load at 1200fps.
