      whatever you choose, i would definitely go with a 357. that way you can also shoot 38s which are cheaper. everyones hand is different. go to a shop and try them on for size. pick which ever fits best. in a revolver you really can't go wrong with any of the big brands, from Taurus to Colt.

      What do you think of Taurus these days?

      i have not had any problems with my Taurus. I have a model 85 ultra lite and a millenium pro. I guess my only issue with the Taurus brand is they do not hold their value like Smith, Colt, or Ruger. If i am in the market for a Taurus I always buy used and save alot over new :)

      all great choices OP. thoughts...... i have a GP100 and it is a good gun and fun too shoot. make sure you try it on for size and fit as they are smaller framed. mini 30. i do enjoy my mini. not sure if prices have stabilized yet. last time i checked they were still a little over priced...

      from what i have seen, the big box stores sell all ammo as it comes in. they do not keep boxes back for those who purchase new guns. i am not sure about all the local guns stores but i know the one i deal with always keeps some ammo behnd the counter for those people who buy new guns...

      AMT 45 longslide back in the 80s. it was also my son's first as I passed it along to him. who knows, maybe it will start a family tradition and my great great grandson will be carrying it.

      it has never happened to me and i hope it never does. i keep a mossberg persuader with a pistol grip next to my bed as my go to home defense weapon. i would hate to wake up and have that next to me as my snuggle buddy. ;)

      it truly is sad how many people in this country take freedom for granted. makes you wish you could ship them over to one of these countries and teach them a lesson the hard way. then they would appreciate what they have.
