The first handgun I bought for myself was a Remington Rand 1911A1 that I bought in 1976 (with Dad's non-monetary help) at the tender age of 14. Worked all summer mowing grass and doing odd jobs and if I remember correctly it cost me around $145.00. I later saved up and bought a Lee handloader...
If you already own a rifle and are wanting to try 3 Gun then by all means run what you have and then later if you decide you really like 3 Gun you may consider getting something different. If however, you do not own a rifle and your main reason for getting one is to try 3 Gun then buy a rifle...
The most important thing when deciding upon any gun is what is its intended purpose. Once you've decided that then the choices become less complicated. If your main goal for this rifle is to shoot 3 Gun then I would not buy a standard carbine. You don't have to go hog wild but I'd recommend...
I'm a big proponent of emphasizing "principles" over "techniques" so I don't get wrapped around the axle too much one way or the other. With that being said, a lot of this depends on your target audience. There is a big difference training people who are willing or required to train regularly...
I used to have an older S&W Model 38 Bodyguard which I really loved. Trouble is it had the old thin blade sights which I can no longer pick up well. A few years ago I traded it for a 442 and while I like it also, I prefer the Bodyguard style but unfortunately S&W only makes the Bodyguard in...
If it's been sporterized then the only concerns is if it was serviceable and the work done meets your standards and needs. The M1917 action is hell for strong and has been used for a lot of large caliber magnum builds in the past.
Very nice looking 686 there. I Love S&W wheel guns but haven't owned an L Frame in years. Top 3 are N Frames and bottom 3 are K Frames. Also have 2 other K Frames and a J Frame not pictured
Thx Vert. It was a pleasure to have you guys in class. As previous AAR have also stated, there is a lot of info presented in this class and I will be evaluating the material for possible changes next year. We are currently working on a schedule for next year along with some new classes that we...
+1 to what has been said about the CMP. If I were you, I'd take a trip to the CMP North Store (after making sure you have all the requirements met) and you will have a whole lot of great rifles to choose from.
Anyone that thinks detailed pat downs and safety inspections prior to FOF training is excessive is a total idiot. I have long said that there may be many "Oh s**t, I f**ked up" letters I may have to write to my Chief during my career but, a letter about getting an Officer shot during training...
Depending on your age, that little extra sight radius can make a substantial difference. Other then that, you won't gain a lot between a 17 and a 34. That being said, I love both my Glock 34's.
While there are several issues with this type of" holster", the biggest is that you cannot easily re-holster without taking the "holster" off. Being able to re-holster quickly during a real situation may be very, very important.

5 rounds of .124 +p 9mm at 100 yards from my Mod 1 Custom Glock 34 with RMR. Haven't been able to shoot a decent group with a handgun at 100 for several years since my eyes started going to s**t but I can see the dot. Looks like I need to bump the elevation just a tad.
