      Japanese Type I Navy Rifle

Just wondering if anyone has any information on this rifle. It is a WWII Japanese Type I rifle. Evidently the Japanese Army needed the Arisaka and would not produce anymore rifles for the Japanese Navy. So, they contracted Italy to produce a rifle for the Japanese Navy. It is a combination...

      FoodSaver Vaccuum Packer Ideas

I suggest sealing instant mashed potatoes and oatmeal for backpacking as a quick snack or meal. I've had luck turning the ripped bags into individual smaller bags. It was actually cheap to buy the larger bags and do this than to buy the small bags themselves.

How to save someone from bleeding to death

This needs to be shown to everyone. Although simple in design, most people don't understand the purpose or how a tourniquet works. In the Army, I've seen many people try to place the tourniquet over the actual wound...this works somewhat, but can cause many complications. Thanks for sharing!

It's official! I no longer suck with a shotgun

@ teddy12b...what's the muzzle climb like with the 11-87 and slugs? Obviously the benefit of having a semi auto is a quick "double tap." Just wondering how hard it was to keep the sights on target? Thank you.

      Christmas Cards For Vets

Guys, please participate in this!! I am a current member of the Indiana National Guard myself. When a soldier is far away from home, there is nothing like receiving a card, letter, or even a short note from anyone. I know it brightened my day and kept me driving on when I was far from home I...

      Hunting deer from your house?!?

@ williamrights...justify it? We are talking about someone sitting inside their house with a loaded gun...its just asking for trouble. When I said, "...let it be known it is not safe, and all of the same hunting rules apply...you would probably get in trouble anyways, just because it is very...

Opinions needed! First long gun for a 12 year old.

I have to second the Marlin 60. It is a great starter rifle that can be used as the child gets older. This was my first rifle and I still use it today. It has a very well developed safety. It also has a built in scope rail, so it can be used to teach the child how to use rifled sights and a...

      Hunting deer from your house?!?

I agree with ATOMonkey in questioning why there are certain rules and regulations. For instance, if we, as hunters, are allowed to kill deer, why should it matter what caliber of cartridge we use? The reason is that there is a lot of "bargaining and politics" involved in creating hunting laws...

      Hunting deer from your house?!?

You cannot bait deer in Indiana...private or public. If it is not found in nature (or your yard) naturally, then it is baiting. this includes: salt licks, attractants, or random apples or corn in the middle of the woods. The catch is, it is perfectly legal to place all of these things in the...

      2011 Deer Hunt discussion

I haven't been able to get out yet this season, but my brother has been out a few times. Same thing for him...nothing in range. It sounds like this heat is keeping the deer from really moving around during the day (night is much cooler). He has managed to continue to get some great pictures of...

      FoodSaver Vaccuum Packer Ideas

If you are into the canning foods thing, these bags work great. Also, a buddy of mine takes his hunting clothes and hits them with no scent spray, then he seals them in the vacuum bags. He doesn't open them until he is in the field. As for the dehydrated food thing, any non perishable food...

      Anniversary shooting suggestions?

If you don't mind doing something on the 12th of November, Marion County has their last NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Class. I think its $100 a person? You get free coffee, donuts, and pizza (romantic huh)?? I would also have to recommend going deer hunting with your wife. Firearm season in IN...

Hello everyone...my name is Ben, and I am from Northern Indiana. For the past few years, I have browsed around on INGun. I have finally created an account, and I couldn't be happier. I am a 20 year old college student who collects firearms. Due to a college budget, I have taken up the hobby...
